I still feel kind of sad that when this started happening, there weren't more fansubbers pursuing the treasure trove of older untranslated anime instead. Right now Live-Evil and Saizen (often together) seem to be among the few, trying to conquer World Masterpiece Theatre by releasing one episode every few months.

Well, they were always doing older releases. I think there's just a divide between the kinds of groups. I mean, there's always been plenty of old stuff to translate if you felt like it, so if a group was only doing new stuff they were probably only interested in doing new stuff.
