Ive never read OP as shonen isnt my genre, but the art in the manga and style looks interesting and unique. Cartoonish in a good way. Some people just have issues with anything not typical anime weaboo style #1205 so hate on it im guessing like they do Ping Pong or Mononoke.

One Piece has a great style that fits its tone well and makes it very distinct. Actually has a bit of a western cartoon feel to it at times, which always keeps the mood light.
Its problem is the panel composition over the past few years getting more cluttered as Oda attempts to shove more into each page. It's actually why I prefer the digitally colored version of the manga.
