Sanbe wrapped up the excellent slice-of-life drama and then remembered he still had to write the ending to a mystery story.
Kayo is cute as fuck and the ending song is pretty fucking awesome.
Although, the actual ending sucked ass, the show should have stopped when Satoru died in the car, and Kenya should have been given the "Revival" power from that point onwards, jumping back to save his friend.

When did I say otherwise? I said he gets all nervous when Satorou tells him he went back to the past. In the manga is totally different, he's calm and believes in him instantly, something you would expect from someone fucked in the head but smart enough to know it was the only possible way for Satorou to always frustrate his plans.
