This scene was one of the first times I've literally cringed in the real life watching something. It was just so abysmal and cringey, I noped out of the show for a month before finishing it just for novelty's sake.
The gradual turn from an edgier & poorly paced .hack//Sign to a waifu/family slice of life and then into an incest subplot was just painful to watch.
The main villain wanting to take his pure virgin internet wife, the harem that like him because he is good at games, the fact that somehow he is better than everyone because he played the beta despite being a 15 year old little shit. The fact that its based on actual combat and technique but somehow an emaciated neet is a pro at it. The way he just overpowers the games fucking creator through just pure bullshit.
And finally the incest shit. Like for what purpose? This added nothing but negative value to the story. Big titty cousin having an affection crisis about her cold, indifferent, neet cousin who has about as much appeal and charm as fucking soggy baguette, one she has not even fucking seen in a year because hes been trapped in a fucking video game, just suddenly has to force her affection into the plot.
How this thing gets praise by even the most plebian of people and adult swim watchers I can't comprehend. It is utter garbage on every level after episode 3, and not even the slightly above average animation during some fight scenes can save that.

This is a show called Tsukikage Ran. I never see anyone talk about it or mention it. I happened to have volume 1 back when Anime was mainly released on DVD volumes where $25-30 got you the first three episodes.
The first three episodes are actually really good. The choreography for the sword fights in the first three episodes are pretty amazing, especially considering their timeframe, and while the main two characters didn't blow me away, I thought they worked.
Recently, I decided to look up the rest of the show past the first three episodes. Holy shit, it got so much worse after that point I actually thought for a good 3 hours that I had picked up some sort of 80's made prequel series or something.
The character dynamic NEVER evolves, and is actually a case study for the worst partnership I've ever seen. Even though the two characters in this picture are supposed to be a sort of dynamic duo, what usually happens is the dyke ronin on the right winds up having to save the "trained" warrior on the left who is about as useful as wimp-lo, and can't even win against enemies that her training is specifically meant to take down while in her top condition and has to have the ronin save her ass. That'd be fine and all, except the choreography goes to shit immediately. It turns out they blew all of their budget on episodes 1-3, because they actually copy and paste bits and pieces from the OP into fight scenes in the show, and you can TELL they did it because they match up poorly with the backgrounds which look like they've been run through a filter.
Easily the worst and most disappointing shit I've seen.

Most people who have seen a considerable amount of anime think it sucks, but people who don't usually watch it enjoy the show. The plot is simple, the animation is done well, and there are cute grils. Unfortunately, everything else sucks. It was, to me, one of those animes that try so hard to be self-insert, the MC is like fucking cardboard, yet everyone loves him because he just to happens to be amazing at whatever he feels like. The very beginning was promising, the vast majority sucked, and parts of the second season were pretty good, comparatively speaking. I'm sure if they removed Kirito entirely and actually developed anyone else, it would have improved.
