They could have done so much with it, the virus could be the first weapon humanity would use against ayy lmaos like in Crysis, or it could be some creature using human hosts to discover new ways of using the virus power like in Worm, whatever, instead they just go and cure the virus, killing the story forever.

Honestly, VD also under-delivered on /u/ and /e/ content. Especially if you weren't a huge fan of the autistic cave woman or the pipsqueak. Compare it to Queen's Blade, where you get a nearly endless supply of panty shots, up closes on body parts, and bare bouncing tits, especially during fights. You also get a good amount of fanservice for every major character in the pretty sizable cast. I think that I've only ever really seen Nyxfags act particularly disappointed.
Queen's Blade also demonstrates that the attempts to point to "fanservice" as the cause behind "shitty story" is bullshit. Queen's Blade had more fanservice and a better story than Valkyrie Drive.
It really fell apart after the first three episodes, on all fronts. While we haven't heard about any in-fighting from the staff, it feels like a case of internal strife and "safe" last minute changes leading to an end product that very few people really care for.
