As ridiculous as that one is, the Funi one was actually great. Probably one of the best translated OPs ever.

Thanks for sharing it, by the way. Never had heard One Piece in english.

This is funny, is there any reason for this? Also, I like that I can't really understand most of the lyrics in spanish and it is my second language.
I found this one day by accident. The japanese and english singer for the first Tenchi Muyo ED live. It's pretty charming because Chisa Yokoyama gives a good effort to sing in english

Is it just more or is there something about English vs. Japanese where the syllables sound really awkward when you shove English syllables into the Japanese ones, because in English you have a lot more consonant clusters in between the vowels? While Japanese more closely resembles something like 8-bit music where it's like short neat beepy syllables. I think the solution is to pronounce consonants very lightly, like how Funimation made two versions of the DBZ Kai theme, one with the awkward as fuck Vic Mignogna and another much cleaner one.

I always loved this DBZ OP
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dP75aZvWVdw
it was hype as fuck when I was younger.
This one has grown on me. It's certainly better than the oddly dubbed Gera Gera Po they used for a few episodes.

>>139349859
>DBZ Kai
I trusted the latin american dub to get the opening right, but nope, even that managed to sound awkward at times.
Oh, and the voice actors were mostly (if not all) different from the original latin american DBZ cast, so that caused some butthurt to the nostalgiafags.
>>139349859
It's more that it's really hard to fit a translation of song lyrics into a song that was made for a whole different language. You have to use awkward wordings/sentence structure or you have to rush a lot of words in a smaller amount of time
>>139349859
That's a good point. One of the harder things is changing words with drawn out end vowel-ending syllables (wooooooooooo) into something that ends in a consonant. Funimation's "We Are" does it by stretching out the last syllable still, but you get that fading consonant tacked on that makes it sound a bit weaker.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujsvBXl69Ag
Thanks for the nostalgia bomb, OP.
Not the original opening this, being the 2.B.A Master version.

you have to keep the yamate
it would be absolutely haram if they didn't

I feel this is an honorable mention considering the sung lyrics are better than the translated subs in the original opening.
The songs in Project A-Ko were all in English and I still love them. It had a fantastic 80s synth soundtrack.

On the topic of dubs, how would /a/ rate the dub for Ranma1/2?
I personally liked it, but that's also how I first watched it as a kid, so I might be too biased.
>>139353178
Dub is great until the Inuyasha voice actor takes over for Ranma. Changes his whole tone. Happosai is 10/10 voice dub.
