I just can't sympathise with the protagonist. I am annoyed at how he take hissy fit at the autist despite it is obvious she never mean ill to him.
The glass/genki girl subplot is boring. And the get-naked-throw-myself-at-him degrade the girl's character.
The NEET and Gaijin-bitch miniplot, as forced as it is, actually interesting and could work if they gave it more time to develop.
Two main girls are okay I guess despite their shit taste at men.
Overall great visual work with too little substance.

I liked the first part of the anime. Second part was shit because the director's waifu was Aoyama.

Who are also geniuses/naturally-talented. Not a single non-genius got success in this anime. Also, Mashiro got immediate success for a manga when she literally never tried before, where as the MC had been trying.

First third is fairly compelling, seems like its going somewhere interesting.
Second third is pretty dull.
Last third is terrible, drowning in melodrama.
The biggest problem with it is that I couldn't sympathies with anyone but Mashiro and Nanami. Every other major character but Nanami and a fair few of the side ones consistently acts like incredibly stupid self absorbed idiots (only Mashiro has the excuse of actually being autistic).
Also the protagonist is awful. Most of the time he's just bland except for the brief moments he loses control and lashed out at the autistic girl, not because he's upset she's a massive burden on him (which would be fine) but because he's irrationally jealous of her artistic talent. That would be an incredibly unlikable thing for a person to do even in almost any circumstance, but especially in his one. Fuck him.

I don't think you actually read/watched this series. Yes, they might not have been trying as long as Mashiro, but they have still been trying for a while, and the issue is even though the author takes pains to show us how hard they work, they still fail (which is ok, since you can't expect success all the time), but the issue is they fail repeatedly even though you know they are working so hard and never win. Aoyama failed the first time? Ok, I expect her to succeed the second or third time....wait, she failed in those too?
And this is compounded by the fact in contrast to the talentless but hard working (Aoyama and Sorata), the three talented people (Mashiro and the other couple) are shown to be successful. So they all work hard (and even that's debatable, since Mashiro got manga success/attention so effortlessly it was accidental), but coincidentally only the ones who are also talented succeed....you can see the way the "work hard, not talent, brings success" message is corrupted by this fact. If the author had at least Aoyama or Sorata get a success, then that would improve things, but they didn't.

Disappointed that there wasn't as much BDSM as I was hoping for. Mari Okada melodrama in second half was really tough to power through. Liked Sorata more than you. Didn't like Nanami all that much. Surprised that it didn't go full lawlharem.
All in all, I'd watch it again.
