Yeah, the thing about Gintama is that is 100% for Japanese. It references their pop culture, & previous cultures and those are things only people actually living in Japan will understand. It is a cool premise and the stuff that happens, but it would be quicker to read a summary of events than to listen to all the jokes you don't get.

SAO, fucking teenfags love the romantic aspect, but I feel like they missed a great oppurtunity to create an pretty decent anime.
Episode 1 was pretty good, then they did that 6 month timeskip bullshit skipping over everything to do with world-building, end of episode 2 was good with the boss fight but then they just skip like 30-40 floors again.
If they remade it, I really hope they go over that aspect and not the shitty love plot in the original.

Episode 1 was really well done, i think the same goes to most Shounen shows, they sort of always dumb down to appeal to the lowest common denominator, losing any artistic creativity in the process, like for example Naruto could have been much better if it didn't go the dragonball route and instead tried to have entertaining strategical fights and jutsus that aren't just massive energy blasts, like that time in the Zabuza arc when Naruto turned into a shuriken to get to zabuza, it was stupid yeah, but entertaining, more of that would have made the show much better.

Hunter X Hunter had great character execution. It's appeal is honestly closer to DRRR!! than dragon ball, but since /a/nons go in expecting shonenshit and the shonenshit they get is vanilla, they bash it.
Most of the appeal for me came from the amorphous style of the manga, which is entirely lost in the anime, and so anime-only fags assume it's just "shitty art" because of muh constancy (to be fair, I never read Chimera Ant, so I have no idea how that went over, artistically)
