100% new to /a/, but I want to get a discussion about Tsutomu Nihei's manga going. Favorite American released manga, favorite non-American released manga, and why? Personally BLAME! is my favorite, second being Biomega, but I've heard a lot of people are into Abara which I've no experience with.

Abara's story is more unclear than Blame's, despite Nihei's efforts otherwise. He went out of his way to actually explain it recently, you can find that pretty easily in the catalog if you search 'nihei abara' after you're done reading it. It has some of his best art, but also holds the beginning of his "white" phase, which has royally fucked up his manga art. I would recommend it much more than I would Biomega; Biomega has very little in the way of value in comparison, so I'm certain you'll like Abara.
If anybody has anything they want to actually discuss or ask regarding Nihei or his works, please post it here. Don't shitpost about "wahh OP is new", just ignore him and let it become a real thread instead of wasting *everyone's* time. Abara and the first part of Biomega were the peak of Nihei's art. Biomega also had a plot easy to follow, unlike Blame! and Abara. It all went downhill after the 4th volume. I still liked it but damn, what a shame.
