NO. Gohan's dream was to become a scholar since episode fucking ONE of DBZ. There's literally no need right now for him to fight, when his dad and Vegeta can benchpress a planet (and then some).
The way he will contribute is by becoming a scientist. This results in him writing "Groundbreaking Science"...and thanks to Gohan, knowledge of Ki will be known throughout the Earth. This achievement is FAR more important than Gohan training and just being another fighter.
You take that away from Gohan, you take away his character coming full circle. He's going to train with Piccolo just to stay in shape, but ultimately he will become the famous scientist he's meant to be.

I've been a Gohan fan since DBZ was being dubbed by Ocean, and by now, I've just given up.
In this over-the-hill era of Dragonball, everyone is reduced to their most basic points, and as we've seen, Gohan's been turned into some weird-kid adult version of himself. He's got no agency and relies on PIccolo/Goku to get anything done, is stronger than the rest of the helpless gang, but just strong enough to show that the new badguys are really tough. He's basically worse off than when he was a kid. Sheesh, even Gohan back then would put off studying to go on an adventure in space.
The ultimate reality of the situation is that nobody knows what to do with Gohan, particularly because he's Goku's son. Long past are the days were there might be some idea of Gohan surpassing his father, and we've seen that we're not having that shit. If not at Buu, then when else? We can't have him be on the same standing of Goku and Vegeta's Battle Buddy Power Hour, because fighting and good food are fun, and fuck if we even know what to do with those to other than punch people and underestimate everyone and learn the same lessons again and again and again. It's ridiculous.
But my issue isn't that Gohan isn't the strongest, or HARDCORE SSJ2 WARRIOR, I just want him to do SOMETHING. Shit, my favorite version of the character is the one where he gets killed.
I'd be content if he were teaching class in space and doing Saiyaman shit every now and then, but no. Not even Gohan can escape the jobber's box. Knowing about ki isn't going to suddenly let everyone use it. Yamcha and Krillin were super human and they had to train for three years before they could use the Kamehameha.
