It introduced the most boring group in the bleach universe that has no ties to it except for Ginjou with the most retarded powers and that would as well not exist later on except for comedic cameo. Overall the impact it had on story was nonexistent, unless you count what we already know, that is Ichigo wants power to protect, Chad and Orihime want to protect him but fail miserably. And Ichigo's new robes and presumably powers, but since Kubo didn't seem to pay much attention to these and quickly jumped to another powerup you can also scratch that one. Fb arc had also terrible pacing with weeks of Ichigo fighting in another cube and powering up a little bit after that, but no one cared since it was obvious Ichigo would get his powers back eventually. But go on, keep saying it was the greatest shit ever because of that few tense chapters with Tsukishima mindfuck, while the rest was boring garbage. They wouldn't be invading the place if they didn't want to kill him. They have Urahara and Mayuri with them, two of the best scientists who can figure out what to do, and they have Aizen at reserve if they want to trap someone in a crystal to be trapped there forever and act as a subtitute king.

If the Nanao's sword is really repsonsible for cutting the limbs of the Soul King, then it means that there is an actual ritual. That would've gotten old and stale after a while. The Karakura arc was just there to introduce the characters. Kubo was planning on a major arc happening later in the story from the get go. In fact, the arrancar arc was supposed to happen after Karakura (see Grand Fisher tearing his mask off after losing to Ichigo), but Kubo then got the idea for Soul Society.

We have been given two explainations for Orihime's powers. Aizen said it was the Hogyoku that resonated with her because Orihime cursed her powerless from the bottom of her heart. Urahara and her fairies said it was Ichigo who gave Orihime her powers.
The Hogyoku functions the exact same way as Yhwach. They both give someone power because of what they lack by sending out a soul piece. The Hogyoku is made of countless soul pieces afterall and using it too much weakened it because the number of soul pieces got lower.
Ichigo is highly implied to be a special Quincy like Haschwalth and Yhwach. So if Orihime got her powers from him it's because he accidently gave her what is basically a Schrift.

Powers exist naturally within the soul but they're dormant. Upon death these powers can be awakened at the cost of your humanity, or 'the heart'. Which is why Hollows are a lot stronger than the average spirit. But the nature of power in Bleach is predatory, so Hollows feel hunger (as do stronger spirits in SS).
The difference with Shinigami is that they use an Asauchi, a blank hollow vessel in the form of a sword, that their soul resonates with over time and they imprint their powers onto the sword with enough training. Zanpaktou's are a mirror of one's inner powers.
With Fullbringers their inner powers were awakened by the residual Hollow reiatsu left from the attacks they experienced in their lives.
And even Quincies have these dormant powers but need a method to unlock them because they can't use anything Hollow related due to their natural intolerance. So when Yhwach gives them a piece of his soul it resonates with theirs and pulls out their latent abilities. Which is why the Sternritter have much more varied and more powerful abilities than the typical Quincy.

The part I didn't like about the fullbring arc was that their powers didn't fit well with the environment. Some of the powers seemed set up to be obvious plot tools, like the Riruka's put stuff away ability and the kid's ability to make a video game reality, that kind of shit makes too many possibilities and not enough time to explain its limitations, like Orihime's ability.
The only good thing about the arc was that Tsukashima was like the best non-lethal counter to Ichigo.

I'm just half-imagining Rukia being the primary shinigami but completely oblivious to how the human world works, especially when forced to dwell in it. The problem with SS arc is that Ichigo power level got way too high, that in a single arc, while the manga was still pretty new. Even in Naruto it took way longer for the supporting cast to become useless.
