Dude the Iron Giant was on TV last Saturday when I was at my parent's place grilling.
Memes aside: that fucking movie is amazing and the animation is top tier. I just looked up when it was made and it was at the beginning of CGI experimentation and that damn movie benefited from not hopping on that bandwagon.

Even the directors admit the first 8-10 episodes were a bit *too* slow, but if you bear with it the payoff is pretty massive. The catharsis is unlike any other, and I'm not even a /it/ or /his/ fag. For a tv anime it punches well above its weight. I'd give it another shot.

The single best episode of anime, according to worthiness and quality as a form of art, has to be something from one of the greats. I'm inclined to say Cowboy Bebop, maybe Jupiter Jazz pt.2, but I could see the argument for an Eva episode or Wolf's Rain, which is an extremely underrated work of art from the people who did bebop, and the essence of perfection in hand drawn anime.
