Anon, why.
Anyway
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2016-03-28/shonen-jump-magazine-teases-jump-cs-project/.100377
I hope it's a new game.
Batch 1 has my second and third favorites (HxH and OP), but not much else
Batch 2 has my overall favorite (Gintama), and it's got Death Note and Eyeshield. On the other hand, it's got Belch, D gay man, and fucking Reborn (least favorite)
Batch 3 only has Beelzebub, which is alright. The rest is bad or unread
Batch 4 I like almost everything
4>1>=2>3
The first batch was arguably the most important. We got One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, and Naruto which became some of the most popular manga period (in One Piece's case, THE most popular manga period) (Leader Den Takeshi could have been among those if it wasn't for its cancellation due to the mangaka going to jail for pedophilia). Yu-Gi-Oh became a massive worldwide franchise. Pretty much every one of those series is memorable and still talked to about to some extent to this day or the mangaka's later went on to do much more popular works.
Second batch is hit or miss. Bleach, D. Gray Man, Gintama, and Death Note are huge and will still be talked about decades from now as important Jump series.
Eyeshield 21 has Based Murata, and Neuro has Matsui who went onto to make AssClass which is going to go down as one of the biggest Jump series period.
The rest (including Neuro) will probably be mostly forgotten as time goes on.
Well the third batch fucking sucks for the most part. Was a rough period for WSJ for those years, couldn't find a new hit series for the life of them. Only Kuroko no Basuke and Bakuman really made a huge impact.
Toriko, Beelzeub, Medaka Box, and Nura were popular and decent (especially Beelzebub which was really quite genius and underrated) but nobody is going to remember them in a decade.
Psyren and Mx0 had a lot of potential and each ran for a few years, but never really got the success they deserved.
This current batch is really neat.
My Hero Academia is going to go down as a huge pillar of Jump, and AssClass already has.
Black Clover is beyond terrible but it could also end up a Naruto level success once it gets an anime.
Haikyuu and Shokugeki no Soma are hugely popular, but I'm not sure if they'll really be remembered in casual discussion of WSJ within a few decades.
Hinomaru Sumo is one of the best sports manga WSJ has ever put out.
Everything else is pretty good but I doubt they'll be remembered as time goes on once they eventually finish.
>>139253972
I feel like Batch 4 has the most variety, but fuck Black Clover
>>139254820
>Haikyuu [...] is hugely popular, but I'm not sure if it'll really be remembered in casual discussion of WSJ within a few decades.
Isn't Haikyuu about as big as KuroBas was? I think it'll be remembered.
What about Kochikame and Slam Dunk?
>>139255459
As in Retro JUMP in general?
>>139255459
Is Kochikame even good?
>>139255541
I heard it's like The Simpsons of manga, both in a good and bad way.
>>139255625
and still going.
>>139255664
That what I meant by in a bad way.
>>139253972
How did you define those batches, OP?
>>139255541
I'm more interested in Isobe.
Jump+ has some neat stuff right now from former Jump mangaka.
Kiss x Death is by the mangaka of Mx0. It's kind of like a light hearted ecchi version of Parasyte.
Rabudesuta is by the mangaka of Enigma.
iShoujo+ is a sequel to iShoujo
El Drive is from the mangaka of Reborn!
Ananomujina is by the artist of Stealth Symphony and Akaboshi.
Karada Sagashi is by the mangaka of K.O. Sen and Dois Sol
There are some other battle manga as well like; Dictator Zeke, Chronos Ruler, and Tenjin.
>>139253972
what about the first group:
dr. slump
hokuto no ken
dragon ball
kinikuman
captain tsubasa
saint seiya
jojo
city hunter
video girl
slam dunk
yuyu hakusho
rokudenashi blues
rurouni kenshin
>>139256560
How in any way can Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball be in the same group? Do you not understand how linear time works?
>>139253972
I went to Japan in the mid 2000's for the first time on a high school trip, and bought some copies of Jump there. I read them over and over with a japanese dictionary at my side to practice and just because I was really into it. Toriko started during my stay, and I caught the very first chapters of Beelzebub, too. So those, along with Mx0, Medaka Boz, Psyren, Sket Dance, Bakuman, Nurarihyon, and even Samurai Usagi (that you didn't list) are special to me.
>>139256734
I know, I just put dr. slump because it's the only memorable of the "first generation". I mean, there are ring ni kakero too, but who cares.
>>139253972
In terms of quality, probably the batch that contained Bleach, One Piece and Naruto. The original Big 3.
>>139257080
You're so dumb, it hurts.
>>139257161
>the original big 3
You do realize that Eyeshield 21 and Bleach switched places constantly for third place?
Big 3 is a western created bullshit term.
>>139257313
>Big 3 is a western created bullshit term.
Who gives a shit
>>139257350
People who care about being correct and not spouting bullshit give a shit.
>>139254214
>Black Cat shit
>To Love Ru okay
Who knew you could get more readers with titties?
>>139254364
I can only hope.
>>139257313
bleach is way more popular than eyeshield in japan.
>>139257548
Point still stands. That was the best era. I haven't even heard of eyeshield.
>>139254214
>this degree if shit taste
At least you got Bleach & Naruto on shit
>>139255853
>Kiss x Death is by the mangaka of Mx0. It's kind of like a light hearted ecchi version of Parasyte.
Kinda sad, though. The guy's dream project got cancelled after two years, and only got back in the saddle by doing ecchi.
I mean, look at all the crap we had in WSJ because everyone wants to be the next To Love Ru. E-Robot, Lady Justice, Ghostits...
>>139257756
>I haven't even heard of eyeshield
You sound like a fag, so maybe you wouldn't be able to enjoy it, but it's fucking excellent.
>>139257682
Alternatively, if we need another MvC-like.
>>139257682
the funny thing is Lala could probably beat anyone in that picture besides Saitama
>WSJ introduces a new series
>It's absolutely prefect
>Has everything you want in a series
>But everyone else doesn't care for it in the polls
>WSJ tells the author to quickly write an ending and then cans it
What was her name, /a/?
>>139257895
>Krillin but no Gohan
>Robin but no Zoro
>Konan of all characters as a Naruto rep
What the fuck even is this.
>>139257682
Black Cat was a mediocre battle shonen.
To-Love Ru was a fun ecchi romcom.
>>139257727
I'm talking about rankings dipshit.
Plus, if Eyeshield ran as long as Bleach did it would have sales just as high.
>>139257756
It wasn't the best era because they were multiple eras. Also, how have you not heard of Eyeshield? You live under a rock, dumb boy?
>>139257807
My taste is better than yours.
http://myanimelist.net/mangalist/Rica_Patin&show=0&order=4
>>139257835
Yeah, but none of those series end up successful.
>>139257837
Only a 14 year old uses terms like "fag".
>>139258015
>absolutely perfect
No it wasn't.
It was above mediocre, but it wasn't anything special. Komi is pretty much a hack.
>>139257907
A majority, probably. I'd wager Goku and Vegeta could beat her, or at least revert her to child form. Jotaro and DIO, too, if they learn her weak spot.
Seriously, Jump's crossover games are oddly lacking in girls. J-Stars had, what? Six in total? And half of those were assists.
>>139258015
certainly not Double-Arts, that's for sure.
>premise that couldn't go anywhere
>contrived set-up for DRAMA and ECCHI
>kingdom hearts-ass character design
it wasn't terrible, but it sure wasn't great.
>>139254214
>Houshin Engi- Shit
Stopped reading right there. Nothing else you say has any value.
>>139258092
>It was above mediocre, but it wasn't anything special. Komi is pretty much a hack.
Valid point. But it had promise, and was infinitely better than Nisekoi. Which is why people get more upset with that series more than anything.
>mfw Ellie scored higher than the main protagonist in the most recent popularity poll
Any of you faggots remember reading the monthly shonen jump here in the US when it was still around?
>tfw lived in poor nig-nog/hick town in south
>tfw school had never-ending subscription to SJ
>tfw when checked out and read damn near every volume
>Slam dunk
>one piece
>bleach
>YuYuHakusho
>Hikaru no go
>Bobobo
>>139258092
>Plus, if Eyeshield ran as long as Bleach did it would have sales just as high.
lol know nothing
>>139258982
lol, irony.
>>139258934
I bought only one issue. At the time, I was so angry that it didn't have a Naruto chapter.
Incidentally, I ignored that it basically included the whole fight between Nami and Ms. Doublefinger.
>>139254214
>Anon - Shit
There, I can make a list too.
>>139258043
Plus he actually used Protoman but no Zero, and had Kenshiro as a regular character, rather than an Unlockable or a Secret Boss.
All around would not play.
Ok this doesn't make any fucking sense. Why the fuck is OPM shown on the WSJ website if the never feature it, it seems like a waste. YJ web comics basically has it as their poster-boy.
>>139261043
Well OPM is a battle Seinen
It a SJ logo for some reason. the same as steel ball run and Jojolion
>>139261043
>Why the fuck is OPM shown on the WSJ website
American website or Japanese website?
Because OPM is published in the American WSJ.
Also it's common to WSJ promote other series from Shueisha simply because it's a popular magazine, Tokyo Ghoul is often featured in Shonen Jump events.
My Hero Academia, Haikyuu, Hinomaru Sumo, Mononofu, Shokugeki no Soma, Samon, Straighten Up, and Saiki make this the best batch.
