I liked that they at least tried to give us that grand battle feeling in AC6 but overall the game needed more variety.

Would ace combat even work as an anime? The main appeal of it was that you the player was a rape train with no brakes, and that the enemy would shit their pants upon your arrival.

It could work if it was styled directly as a documentary, like part of AC0's framing. Each episode could be a mission each, but the ace battles are flashbacks from the enemy point of view with internal monologue and narration.
