Two main theories at the moment is either that he's pretending to be the villain to make the heroes stronger, so they can overcome the real evil at the end of the story
or he's just what he appears for now. Considering TM games always involve a twist, you can expect there to be some twist.
As far as he's pretending at least, humanity never got good, so he decided to wipe them out. In two thousand years no one could be born on his level or reach his level, they're losers, so he decided to end things. He's angry that humanity never kept improving from what they gave him and conquered death, while going even further.
Considering he can go outside of time, isn't held back by death at all, can control all of time, destroy the world, summon 72 demons that are all far stronger than servants, and other bullshit, he's not really incorrect that humanity never reached his level.
Too many things just aren't lining up between his actions and his words at the moment though. He claims he wants to end it, but he seems to be spurring you on as well in a particular way, and despite being able to kill you easily, you're still alive for now.
