Both Cowboy Bebop and Trigun had one major voice that people obsess over (the main male lead). But few people care to recall the myriad of bad secondary characters or one show characters. While in the original Japanese, the secondary characters also had good voices (as they were played by other well known seiyuu).
And I'm sorry, but Koichi Yamadera was still better than Steve Blum as Spike. And Masaya Onosaka is one of the best voice actors ever. There's no reason anyone should skip on hearing the voice of Onizuka in a Space Western.

The voice for Faye completely ruined the dub of Cowboy Bebop for me. And it was soon after that I quit watching dubs entirely.
I also think the Japanese voice for Spike fits the role a lot better. His tone and acting just felt natural. Which he repeated as Togusa in Ghost in the Shell and made Togusa my favorite character in the show.

Hey, I won't disagree there but it predates it and maybe shaped it a little. And I think you're simplifying the way pacifism is used in Trigun like it's some kind of objective ideal but anyway, I don't have issue with Gungrave's themes at all, it just felt like a chore to watch for me because it had such a serious story but I found Brandon too dull to carry his share of the screentime.

But it felt jarring with the serious story they had been building and the way it was executed still felt too damn serious for all the silly shit that was going on. I wasn't being too serious about the pacifism part but I don't like how the show tried to paint Wolfwood as in the wrong. He made a rational decision in killing Zazie and the show tried to vilify him for it. I understand he could have tried harder to in the past but he didn't have the luxury of protagonist plot armor. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.
I didn't skip the first episode so it felt like it came around full circle for me. I can understand why it would be jarring for others. I do like Brandon, he was too pure for this world.
