I was most interested in the changing ending pictures.
I found the Monster anime overly dramatic and with some really unpleasant voice acting. The manga was better.

Monster is brilliant, but Death Note is the point from I start to watch anime and it's fine too. I've recently Watched Death Note Rewrite, it's not so bad even after 7 years.

Both had incredibly disappointing endings.
Monster builds up to this final master plan of domination by the anti-christ that involves a secret society of neo-nazi's and former communists. It's all dropped in the last 5 episodes for "muh perfect suicide" and making Johan sympathetic.

Light was an idiot, literally all he had to do to escape getting caught was to stop using the death note for a little while. Instead he kept using it in ways that the investigation could narrow down both the rules of the note and the possible suspects.
