Reall?
I just felt dead inside. I lost the ability to empathize with Punpun, but being unable to protect Aiko's smile.
Fucking why? What the fuck was the point of her death? I mean I know the entire thing was the author making everything as shit as possible, but why her?

Yeah really, although more at the first half I suppose. The later half didn't make me cry as much, I was just very invested in PunPuns development into a complete monster. Very compelling writing.

Regarding Aiko, I feel like that was the most natural "ending" for her. Both she and him are suicidal people, while also being dependant on each other. When they both realize that even if they're together, they can't be happy, the relationship truly falls apart and she doesn't have another option anymore other than choosing death.

If we break it down, what other choice did she have? She lived a horrible life, being the object of obsession of a truly broken person. She accepts his obsession, but then they both realize that it doesn't work. They killed somebody and are on the run. He tried to kill her at least once. What would have running away from him accomplished? She would be utterly alone again. There was no happy end in sight, and from the perspective of these two characters, suicide is the happy end.

Why, just last night, when I finished Rose of Versailles.
At least best boy Alain got a good end ;_;
>>
>>139199573
>Both she and him are suicidal people, while also being dependant on each other.
Such a pairing should work.
Only the writer fucked it up by making Punpun a cunt.
>>
>>139200766
>Such a pairing should work.
Not really. Dependant people need "strong" people to depend upon (like Punpun and his mangaka gf). Two weak people will always lead to self-destruction.

The film's point wasn't that good, and the film does so in a very uninteresting manner. The whole thing is just eye-candy, because the story itself was pretty bad. Can't understand how anyone could possibly cry.

>inb4 you need to go through something like that to "get it"
>>
>>139201240
If A depends on B, they would be strong to keep B.
If B depends on A, they would be strong to keep A.
Are yanderes not dependant people?
Are they not strong? Becuase I think you need to be strong to be yandere, no normal person can kill all those in the way of true love.

>>139201684
You do need to have gone through something like that.
You must be young if you have never met someone, bonded with them, then got seperated due to events beyond your control. Then you are left with regrets about what could ahve been.
>You havent met a tomboy since parting with your childhood friend

Was it wrong of me to ignore this?
Becuase I saw the summary and just thought "Enders game, the manga" and ignored it.
Please tell me it's not jsut going to turn out like Enders Game. Not becuase I dislike EG or anything, I just want something that wouldnt give me deja vu.
>>
>>139202601
>If A depends on B, they would be strong to keep B.
>If B depends on A, they would be strong to keep A.
that's a nice fantasy you have.
>Are yanderes not dependant people?
Oh yeah, they are dependant. They're also very weak characters. Their motive to kill is usually jealousy, which comes from self-image problems. How is that strong? It isn't.
>>139202784
Just read it. I have no idea what EG is about, though.

>>139202854
>How is that strong? It isn't.
I disagree.
You think their personal issues make them weak, I see them as strong due to their willpower of ruthlessly persuing what they want. Lots of people just give up or never really try, thats why I like yanderes. I also like how in Higurashi, Shion didnt bother pissing around and just straight up murdered everyone in her quest for answers.

>Just read it. I have no idea what EG is about, though.
Enders game is about humans in a war with aliens, the protag is at a school running simulation battles, final battle is alien homeworld with huge fleet vs his small one. He wins and kills the aliens.
The twist is it was all real, not a simulation and he just committed genocide and killed many humans.
Then the author fucks up the ending by making an alien queen survive.
>>
>>139203254
>I see them as strong due to their willpower of ruthlessly persuing what they want.
Yes, through violence. Instead of working on the personal issues or whatever else holds them back. They're weak characters, no matter how you spin it. Instead of growing as characters, they remain childish in their pursuit and their methods.

>Enders Game
I see, no, Bokurano is nothing like that. 15 Kids are forced to fight for Earths survival. If they lose a single fight, their Earth gets destroyed. The twist: Even if a pilot wins their fight, they will still die afterwards. Every enemy they face is in the same position, alternate universe earths that have to play the same game.

Never, but I definitely felt some weight inside I feel every time I hear songs from it, so I guess this is closest I ever got to crying over anime.
>>
>>139202601
If you have to justify experiencing that in order to make the film "click," then it is not that good. I know that realizing you need to let someone go is easier said than done, but the film does not elucidate that point in any way. You just get a self-insert guy that doesn't say much, a lot of beautiful scenery, and a sad song at the end.
It's what tumblr kids consider deep. Had there been any visual metaphors then it would be alright, but the visuals didn't really add anything other than mood, they just looked pretty.

Her death, ironically enough, was the only thing that could save PunPun, in many ways.
It saved him from being in Jail forever, as he was willing to admit all guilt to save her.
It saved him from his obsession with her and his past fuck ups.
It let him go on, and live with different people and try to be happy, for once.

It was the best thing she did in her entire life.
>>
angel beats. call me a faggot, idc.
>>
>>139207947
>It let him go on, and live with different people and try to be happy, for once.
that being said, this is probably the worst possible ending for him, because all he wants is to kill himself.
At least that's how the author put it in an interview, and I like that idea.

For the first years it'd be like that, sure.
But he'll slowly change, as everyone does.
No one is immutable. Trying to force that immutability is what made him and Aiko such broken beings.
