The people reading the manga were right when they said it becomes a lot less entertaining after the haunted house/lake arc. It was enjoyable and Mira's robutt is fantastic but the series got unnecessarily convoluted over time. They wrapped up everything as well as an adaptation could so that's fine for the anime.
