I just like a lot of what MAPPA have been doing, honestly. Sure, some of the stuff is lacking, animation wise (Garo season two looks like it had literally no budget), but when they're on top of it, they're great. I'm okay with the anime having an all male cast, though I would have preferred that the focus was on ladies' figure skating. Not only because I'd rather watch cute girls than handsome boys, but because I prefer ladies' skating to mens' when it comes to the real life sport as well. The men are indeed stronger and capable of showy (consecutive) jumps with a lot of rotation, whereas the girls are more flexible and thus capable of performing much more impressive and elegant spins.
It all comes to preference, of course. Personally I'm not too fond of jumps with lightning fast rotation, though I understand why one would find that much more impressive than the spins.
Anyway: the anime looks good. Hope the focus is on skating and drama, rather than the relationships of the skaters.
