Dumping a few chapters of Sangokushi whenever I have time now that it's completely translated.
Recap of story so far: Lu Bu terminates his friendly relations with Liu Bei by driving him out from Xuzhou. Cao Cao, as chancellor, decides to keep Liu Bei around as a useful tool by appointing him the governorship of Yuzhou.
For those who don't know what this is, it's a faithful adaptation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Yokoyama Mitsuteru, the mangaka of Tetsujin 28, Giant Robo, Mars, etc. The art isn't amazing but if you've ever wanted to get into Three Kingdoms but didn't feel like slogging through book, reading this is the easiest way. The 2010 Chinese TV series was alright too, but that skips out on some fun arcs.

Is Lu Bu the most bribed man in the story? Fucker had it good.
>>139159272
Definitely a man very weak to titles and material wealth.
>>139159985
Really smooth, Cao Cao.
Where did Li Jue and Guo Si disappear to?
>>139161651
I think they're in another city in the region of Nanyang.
>>139161762
Kind of stupid how he didn't just kill Dian Wei right then and there.
>>139162139
I thought the guy was off to kill Cao Cao. I don't think their plan made much sense.
>>139162286
Zhang Xiu is going to be ordering his troops to attack Cao Cao. Dian Wei was just a pesky bodyguard that they wanted to dispatch before the real attack so that it goes smoothly. It's an alright plan, especially since it almost succeeds, but they should have just killed Dian Wei immediately after he gets drunk.

This is kinda unrelated to the chapter you're bumping, but I never get to these threads in time.
What was up with thatold wizard dude that made a fool out of Cao Cao a few volumes before his death?
The whole thing felt really random and out of place to me, but maybe I just didn't get it.

Daoist masters have a reputation of being ascetic recluses with knowledge of magic who sometimes come down to help or belittle men fighting for petty transient power and wealth. Zhuge Liang is often attributed with having magic as a result of him being a Daoist in the various RotTK lore. It's just part of Chinese traditional culture, and there's actually several instances of them throughout the novel, like the guy who drove Sun Ce for example.
In the case you bring up, it's specifically used to suggest to the reader that the true mandate of heaven lies with Liu Bei and not Cao Cao.
>>139162732
Drove Sun Ce insane, I meant to say.
>>139162918
Who needs weapons when you got fists of steel!
>>139162918
>Punching the arrows on the air
Shieeet. All points into unarmed.
>>139162732
Some mandate that was, he still lost at the end.
>>139163087
Mandate could have been with him, but lost by his son.
>>139163168
Did they ever mention who had the mandate after him?
>>139163168
That's still a cheap mandate, considering it doesn't even work within his life time.
In the novel, Dian Wei is portrayed as giving such a tough fight that even after being stabbed in the back and dying, the soldiers were afraid of approaching him.
This manga's portrayal of him dying while standing up as he's shot all over by arrow is taking inspiration more from the legend of Benkei (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benkei) rather than the book. Of course, there are some who believe the legend of Benkei's death was in turn inspired by the RotTK but I'm not so sure about that.
>>139163215
The book never really flat out states who has the mandate. Each leader just goes around calling his enemies rebels to imply that his cause is just and for the empire.
>>139163285
Sometimes, even heaven wants to see the violence and suffering of men.
>>139163373
And boy did heaven get a bargain.
Wait, where the fuck is Cao Ang's scene?
>>139164115
He surprisingly doesn't show in the manga, perhaps to emphasize Dian Wei and downplay that Cao Cao is actually an old man alread in his 40s with children.
And that's the end of the dump for today.
>>139164268
Thank you for the dump.
