So will we get a Season 3 next year? Or is it just plain over? I still can't understand how Detective Conan goes on for 800+ episodes and worldwide recognition while Kindaichi ends up a small footnote.

it ended 4 episodes earlier than the original plan, so I'm guessing they'll release a new case over ova or something
The TV ratings seemed pretty good, it was consistently in the top 10 of the highest rated show of the week, so who knows. I prefer it to Conan, even though the pacing of the anime is quite slow.

they need to remake the old anime
>final case had no locked room mystery

Because Conan has an insanely good plot but Kindaichi is just mystery of the week with the occasional Puppeteer case.

It's still dragged out like hell at this point. Also, Kindaichi is more than a small footnote OP, atleast in Japan. It does really well for a non-Jump shounen mystery series.

It airs right before Conan, that made even Denpa Kyoushi consistently rank in the top 10. But yeah, I love Kindaichi too, wouldn't mind if it was endless.
