I don't understand the popularity of Gintama.
I always heard "watch 25 episodes and you'll be hooked", so I watched the first 25, and I really wasn't feeling it, but I kept watching for another 25 because I thought it would get better, and it didn't. Then some faggot told me I had to watch it for another 50 episodes before it got good. So it Gintama just Stockholm syndrome the anime or something?
Started this 2 weeks ago, currently on Episode 267 and I love it.
I believe the manga ends this year or next?
It's garbage, but this type of simple, easy humor appeals to retards a lot.

Anyway it's the same shit as with any other long running series with ok characters.
After enough episodes you either like them or you don't and you keep on watching if you do.
It never really gets better or worse aside from an expanding cast and more major mini arcs to reference.

Gintama was highly enjoyable when it was mostly comedy, with the occasional emotional episode and the really serious stuff appearing as a rare treat. Nowadays Sorachi went full shonenshit with it, and it's been this way for the past two years. It's really gone downhill now.

You should read the start. Takes much shorter time, you get to know the characters and the chapters are just as good. I started liking it pretty early on, but didn't think it was hilarious until at chapter 30 IIRC. At any rate, when the manga becomes good, you can start the anime from there. IMO the manga is just as funny as the anime, but the jokes are sometimes too wordy.
