The dialog however is no trouble at all. English is my 3rd language and I honestly never gotten distracted by the subtitles or lost track of what was going on.

Maybe because they don't see movies, TV and video games with subtitles since childhood as does the rest of the world.
I'm not even a native english speaker, but my english reading speed is by factors higher than my native language. So watching subs in my native is more of a burden than it is in english.
Getting used to subs will take a some days watching time.

You need to stop subvocalizing, OP. It comes to most anime viewers over time.
Subvocalization is the brain's tendency to read everything written in a "reading voice" which slows the rate of reading down to the rate of actual speech. If you do that, all you'll ever be doing is watching subtitles.
When most people on /a/ (I assume) watch anime, they spend most of their time watching the screen and listening to what the characters are saying, while taking a quick glance at the subtitles in order to understand what is being said.
Again it will come naturally with practice but look up "Spreeder" if you need some more help with it.

I prefer when I read manga, or a LN, instead of having some "nobody" translate it, I have the original japanese raw, and have the translations at the bottom of the page. That way I can watch the page the way it was meant to be read and still understand.
I don't understand people that expect me to read "translated" manga, when being able to see the kanji just sounds so much better, it really changes the voices.
