I think Lynn 's original plot is just up to around Kotori's brother climax as all important forshadowing is reveal at that point (MC killing "Neko" in front of the apocalyptic background, Kotori smiling tearfully etc.) After that arc end new character and plot point that wasn't alluded to before just keep jump out to prolong the plot.
