A lot of mainstream anime and manga nowadays that sells well has yuri in some degree. Yuri has gained a lot of popularity during the last years, but as the other anon says you just need to not make it mainly a yuri romance, nor make the yuri the focus fs the anime or manga.
Yuri can pretty much increase the sales of anything if you cook it well enough and leave it just as a side dish, if you make it the main course you will be aiming for a niche market instead.

Well, I might be biased since it's been a while since I read Citrus, but I remember it being all about "muh serious drama" and absurd, illogical character actions, whereas Yagate Kimi ni Naru feels more natural and blends oldschool lily tropes with the newer ones pretty good.

YagaKimi is much more dramatic and the issues are heavier, it doesn't have lighthearted moments and the characters are very serious all the time.
But the real issue I have with it is not the story, I don't dislike drama, is that there's way too much drama many for only few chapters.Also no lewds ever.
