The opening arc and the racing arc were the only ones I enjoyed.

It peaked at episode 8, and that arc for that matter, were some of the best of that year. Not for everyone but still one of my favorites, just like the blue hearts.
The flcl announcement reminded me that this show reminded me flcl's random silliness and animation.
