The anime is premiering in just over a week. Is anybody from /a/ planning to watch?

It might be a little slow, but there's already a group planning to pick it up. They don't have a good translator lined up at the moment though, which is also why the group doing the manga is behind.

Beyblade is still a thing?

I thought this franchise was dead
>>139054461
Nope. They ended it in 2005, released a new manga and toyline in 2008 (anime in 2009), ended it again in 2012, and then released another manga/toyline in Summer 2015. The new anime premieres April 4. This will be the third generation.

Yup.

How well did it do the last time. Was it enough to warrant another gen or is this some sort of last ditch attempt to revive it.

It did really well, sales were about the same as the original. The series goes into hibernation between generations. By doing this they're able to have a bang in sales when a new gen starts. So far the new gen (Beyblade Burst) has only been in Japan since July (And it just launched in Korea) and it's already raking in sales without even having an anime yet.
