JJBA wasn't popular at all until stands, at which point everyone look somewhat normal if not very lanky. To be honest as far as weekly tankings went JJBA wasn't ever that popular, the only reason it didn't get canned within 5 volumes is because WSJ could afford to take more risks with series and know that DB and Captain Tsubasa would keep the magazine selling.
