>I'm a successful light novel author at a boy's high school, but I'm being strangled by a female classmate who's a voice actress and is younger than me - Time to Play

Why are japanese titles this descriptive?
>>
It's a running gag at this point
>>
>>139023675
>at a boy's high school
Why do people still post this shit translation? It's just a regular high school.
Also that title could be more descriptive.
>>
>>139023675
This is the one by the Kino author, right? I vaguely remember a big thread about this.

Yes it is.

Can LN's get any more self-inserty than having LN author protagonists?
>>
>>139023810
It's just writing what you know, it's not like this is an LN-specific phenomenon.
>>
>>139023857
http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/one_who_depicts_love
I remembered just the one-shot to illustrate how people can actually write about stuff they know without becoming blatant about it.
>>
>>139023943
I'll read that, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it being blatant. Does it really bother you to recognize that the author is writing themselves into it? Hell, half the time it's not even a major focus, there's stuff like Satoru being a mangaka that still managed to tick people off despite being a trivial bit of flavor on him.
>>
>>139023675
>Why are japanese titles this descriptive?
Do you need me to spell it out? It's because this is a competitive market and they want you to know the plot without needing to read the synopsis at the back.

Is this kind of paper comonly used there?
Doesn't look like you would fit much on a page
>>
>>139024047

So are normal books but they don't have titles this long
>>
>>139024099
Can't know for sure, but whenever I see a writer using a special writing paper in manga or anime, they use this kind. Perhaps it's specifically for ease of reading? Since this way writer has to write each symbol separately.
Or maybe the symbol count on one such page is the same as on a typical page of a typical young adult novel?
>>
>>139023675

Man, wait till you see long ass JAV titles. At this point, I only ever browse Javlibrary to find one with a long ass title to watch and see if the title explained the contents perfectly.
>>
>>139023675
>>139023709
Considering the end of the first volume it's probably for the sake of misleading into thinking it's just your regular LN.

Which LN or WN are you currently reading? I started reading Mushoku Tensei myself.
>>
>>139023810
Imagine a LN about a LN writer writing about a LN writer.
>>
>>139024475
>A book about a writer writing about a writer.
So, the light novel equivalent of Stephen King?
>>
>>139023675
They are done like this because in actuality Japanese is this overtly descriptive of a language, it's why 'misunderstandings' are a common source of their humor. It's honestly more commonplace than you think variety programs, books and porn aimed at adults are all named like this over there, names like Bleach and Berserk are considered more edgy and geared towards attracting younger readers.
>>
>>139024503
No, Stephen King's book about that topic did not go that far. The author in his book was just a maniac.
>>
>>139024376
Is it too much to ask for you to make a thread of your own and not turn every thread that remotely touches on the topic into a general?
>>
>>139023675
East Asians, on average, have higher IQs, which allows them to manage titles longer than "Erased" in their working memories.
>>
>>139023675
Wait, the author of Kino no Tabi wrote this? Does it turn out to be some Eva-tier mindfuck or something?
>>
>>139023971
The problem is less often with the fact that people write what they know and much more so that the authors often know very little socially outside of their subject so it makes a lot of LN's (Yahari,Index,Mahoutsukai) seem very boring because the books have no connection to reality so alot of the time you are watching characters expel information with little development, pacing or anything exciting happening for entire volumes.
>>
>>139024582
>Mahoutsukai
Your post is pretty clearly nonsense even without it, but this is just the kicker.

It can be interesting when done right, I really enjoyed Shirobako. Eromanga-sensei on the other hand is just another boring incest harem.
>>
>>139024634
Got Mahoutsukai mixed up with Mahouka.

Point still stands.
>>
>>139024661
That has nothing to do with the self-insert, though, you just don't like boring incest harems.
>>
>>139024684
Your point that a lack of social knowledge somehow leads to nothing happening for several volumes? I don't think that point was standing in the first place.
>>
>>139024661
I actually hate navel-gazing fiction like Shirobako.
>>
>>139024686

What I mean is that you don't get that much insight into his LN writing because 90% of it focuses on the harem.
>>
>>139024700
Believe it or not having knowledge of social situations helps when you are writing stories about people interacting. Mahouka is perhaps the most relevant example i can give because it's an obvious self insert story that features nothing but an incredibly complex magic system and nothing else..
>>
>>139024715
I got you mixed up with the other guy, ignore me.
>>
>>139024733

I think you mix me up with >>139024582
>>
>>139024733
>>139024752
All this means is that you are unfamiliar with the medium which is fine. My point probably makes little sense if you do not read often but if you ever venture to try it out yourself or read more i think you'll get what i mean.
>>
>>139024532
Which book?

The majority of King's protagonists are writers
>>
>>139026766
I don't remember its name, but it came in an issue together with a story about a plane that travelled into the past. The story itself was pretty boring though, so I wouldn't recommend reading it.
>>
>>139024702

I thought it was pretty bad at times, but it was fine overall.

Not according to my WISC-R and WAIS-3 scores.

Did you have some alternative testing in mind?
>>
>>139023675
It's just LNs that do it. Shitty ones at that.
>>
>>139023675
Do you even read this LN anon? The answer to your question is there.
