Final episode time. I can't believe Kyoani actually made the /ss/ real but I can't say I'm not pleased.
To address some of the stuff that happened in this episode
Instead of Ruupa we got Enigma but the plot line was virtually the same. Ruupa was a power stealing shape shifting crazy vampire, Enigma is a power stealing mind jacking crazy vampire. Ruupa shapeshifts into Mai, Enigma mindjacks Haruhiko's mom etc. One key difference though is that Enigma manages to successfully steal Haruhiko's power in the anime, Ruupa doesn't manage to steal Haruhiko's power until volume 2. So I have no idea what Enigma is planning to do with his power this early, find out together next week. Ruupa also stole powers with kisses but I didn't want to mention that since people would probably go >Kyoani, >Kisses. Anyway, in the LN Ruupa actually kisses Mai in the first encounter and Reina in the second one. Shousuke somehow gets kissed offscreen inbetween this.
So why call her Enigma instead of Ruupa in the anime? Well I can't really explain this change until next episode but I've been speculating for a while that they reworked Ruupa into Ruru. The thing about Ruupais that she is actually a phantom Haruhiko summoned as a child as a replacement for his mom, which is what Ruru might be. The bad thing is that Haruhiko's overwhelming desire for a mother kind of made Ruupa into a crazy person. Haruhiko's memory of this was removed and Ruupa was confined inside Alayashiki until she breaks out near the end of volume 1. Ruru isn't crazy like Ruupa though so I suppose they needed Enigma for the ending.
Haruhiko's mom never comes back in the LN, I have no idea what kind of woman she is but most people in the LN consider her a pretty bad person. Haruhiko's dad is pretty cool though.
Still a few other twists left but we'll watch together how it turns out in the anime

Fringe theory, episode 12 started with Haruhiko and Ruru talking about humans creating phantoms and Ruru lost consciousness when Haruhiko did, but it's a red herring.
Enigma is the phantom Haruhiko created and as a result there's a kind of paradox where she's unable to steal his powers because doing so would erase her from existence.
Haruhiko is basically the Legendary Super Saiyan of ability users, so she goes for the "You wouldn't hurt your dear old mom, would you?" trick since she can't beat him.

Actually yeah, that crossed my mind as another possibility. But like how would she do it? I guess she spends so much time thinking about Haru that her feelings turned into this phantom Ruru?
