We actually discussed the scene from the translated LNs extensively in 2009-10, after Bakemonogatari aired. Lots of "go tell your sister you love her, and brush her teeth" threads, which led to an anon fucking his sister, the anon being later dubbed Oral Hygiene Bro. By the time Nisemonogatari aired, most of us knew what would happen and while the animation in the episode was marvellous, the impact was not quite as high as you might have expected.

not that anon but Hitagi End's end was disappointingI I felt, even if it made sense within the narrative. Not only did it feel sort of unconvincing and weak of an ending to something that was supposed to be a big dumb threat to everyone, it didn't really feel like an ending at all either
Kaiki pretty much just repeats what Tsukihi says (but in a coddly-er/less convincing way), but instead of cutting her hair and then fucking off when Nadeko was breaking down for no reason Kaiki knocks her out and pumps her with slug oddities I guess. I'm not sure why Kaiki hapenning to mention the manga makes that much a difference since everything else he said was so general, it's not like Nadeko herself didn't know about the manga. They resolved the medusa stuff without actually resolving anything about Nadeko herself as a character too, for whatever reason you have to wait until Ougi Dark just to see any of that
