Baki thread
fuckin Motobe
Keep posting.
This chapter is bullshit and I said as much when the raw released.
There is no fucking way that Motobe, or Musashi, have more experience at war than Yujiro, who has been LIVING constantly in the battlefield, like vietnam or in war-like areas in africa, since for fucking ever, where he faced hand to hand opponents, blades, guns and even freaking tanks.
There is no fucking way anyone knows better than Yujiro what war is like.I'm sure Yujiro would wreck a velociraptor.

Really looking forward to seeing President Trump in Baki.
>>138992411
I wonder if /pol/fags will try and show Trump getting intimidated by Yujiro
>>138991404
It proved my point, an imaginary katana has no place in a fight against Pickle.
>>138993469
Would a real one work better?
>>138991718
>Triggered as fuck
>>138994420
the fuck are you doing here Kiichi? go to your own threads.oh...
What's with all the ball kicking in this manga?
>>138995538
nobody that didn't deserved it was ball kicked.
>>138993985
Of course, it resembles the claws of his rivals and actually imply that he is in a duel, not just some 10 day old dude flailing his arms and shitting his menacing aura around. I actually called this turn of events and this actual chapter of Pickle getting wounded by one dinosaur species, unless he puts Musashi in a coma after going in his quadrupedal form the series just turned into some samurai wanking manga.
>>138996377
Samurai Fanwank? In a Japanese series? The Hell you say.
>>138996377
I think Musashi actually is a raptor
Pickle's other opponents were powerful LIKE dinosaurs and REMINDED Pickle of them with their power, but Musashi is outright a raptor with his strength and speed
>>138995538
p-pls explain
I'm ignorant of sports memes
>>138995538
>What's with all the ball kicking in this manga?
Mangaka being lazy.
>>138991668
holy shit the memetobe hype is real.
>>138997977
Well, Motobe sucks at grappling, but weapons and dirty fighting can and will even the odds against a grappler.
This isn't something new, the same tropes were used in the convict arc, and to a lesser degree in the first Baki vs Gaia fight - the "athletics vs real fighting" is a very important point in the Baki series.
As for Motobe's power level, remember it took Baki and Shibukawa to make an armed Yanagi flee, and Yanagi got raped in an armed duel with Motobe.
>>138998128
>the "athletics vs real fighting" is a very important point in the Baki series.
And in Japanese martial culture in general. They even have a word for it, "Jissen" means "real fight". So if you red about "Jissen kumite" or "Jissen kobudo" or whatever, it means the stuff is made for real fighting without any rules.
>>138991482
>>138991559
If this was an anime, imagine this EVA like, two minutes just him staring at Motobe.
>>138995538
Itagaki likes dirty fighting. Remember Kato vs Dorian where Kato literally sets the other guy on fire. Or most of Garouden.
this shit was hilarious I dont think any mangaka did a sex scene worse than this
>>138998302
it was glorious.
it was as awkward as Yujiro appearing in the middle of the night and allowing them to fuck.
>>138991777
Based old man.
>>138991295
why is he gargling it
>>138998772
Itagaki always does this. He really has problems. Gay problems.
>>138999080
I really enjoy his and fukumoto's weird art styles. I especially love when Itagaki goes on these long elaborate pseudoscience tall tales.
>>138998402
That was so weird yet it sorta made sense considering his personality
>>138998772
that's what you do when you taste test alcohol
>>138998128
Motobe doesn't suck at it, he's just not quite as good as Baki or Jack or anyone along those lines. Being 70% or 80% of Baki's strength at the point of Dou means you could destroy any normal human easily.
>>138991404
>There is no fucking way that Motobe, or Musashi, have more experience at war than Yujiro, who has been LIVING constantly in the battlefield, like vietnam or in war-like areas in africa, since for fucking ever, where he faced hand to hand opponents, blades, guns and even freaking tanks.
There's different kinds of war, genius. Did you think people were just throwing smoke bombs at each other in Vietnam? That shit never happens, ever. "The art of war" is different than being in a modern war, paradoxically. Modern soldiers don't pretend to be injured. Modern soldiers don't know how to ride horses. Modern soldiers don't rush each other down with polearms and bows. Modern soldiers (and historical soldiers, but that's beside the point) are generally tasked with killing the other side, and hence don't know how to use hojojutsu. It's things like that which distinguish Motobe. He never professed to be better than Yuujiro at *fighting* a war, just the art of war.
>>138995538
this is real fighting not that pussy mma crap.
>>139003044
literally only goofs base their style on being "tricky"

>>138998302
>>139003178
There's a difference between being stupid and being tricky.
>>139003285
ali jr won the first time, these old farts are just salty as fuck
>>139003499
Yeah when they fought him again it was just to make Ali. Jr better because they saw he kicked ass but was too inexperienced with real fights
>>139003499
Yes, because having a broken finger determined the battle between them. This conversation already happened in this thread, even Korakuen fights were "matches" in a sense. If he wanted a true hospitalization or death-tier fight, he should have said something like that. He did to Doppo, who said he *did* accept the first victory, but wouldn't allow it to last. Shibukawa can take a lot more pain than he did in his first fight against Jr.
How the fuck do you end up with art like this
>>138995538
>fight to the death
>d-don't kick me balls
Literally cucks.
>>139003761

>>139007245
>Anyone else really enjoying Itagaki's depictions of people eating and drinking?
Yes. I dunno where the page is, but it's in series 2 somewhere: Jack eats some entire turkey and its bones or something. It's great.

>>138991718

Is he crying?
>>139010672
probably
touchy ego
>>139010672
You'll understand why in the next chapter. Probably gonna be a day or two, idk. We've got the scripts for the next few done already.
>>139010944
I can understandit. But it is still unbeliveableto see Yuujiro like this.
I mean, Yuujiro is crying. Maybe Musashi wasn't a mistake after all.
>>139011081
I meant that like half the chapter is pretty much just about why he freaked out so hardcore/teared up. He's a really complicated person, even a tragic character if you look at it from a pragmatic perspective.
>>139011209
It is always a treat when Itagakiexplores his characters from unusual angle.
>>139011209
What does he do for a work out anyway?
So far we've only seen him swim, fight, and do fancy aerobics.
>>139011418
We have no idea, it's never been hinted at whatsoever. I think the point of keeping it a secret is so that the reader can't see flaws in his physical being. Seeing him strain his body would be "seeing God bleed"; it'd defeat the point of Yuujiro's character.
We've seen Musashi train because he is flawed. We need to know what his tactics, limits are if he's to be defeated. If Yuujiro is ever completely defeated, I'm sure we'll see how he trains some time afterward.
so
what is the proper reading order for Baki
I've read bits and pieces but want to give it a proper through and through
>>139011816
for the easiest way right now
watch the anime
then read
new grappler baki
baki son of ogre
and the current manga is baki dou
after that you can go back and read the chapters for the first manga, since it's not fully scanlated yet
Wait so is Oliva older than Yujiro?
>>139011816
>Grappler Baki (currently half scanlated)
>watch the anime for the rest
>New Grappler Baki
>Son of Ogre
>Baki Dou
New Grappler is a decent enough starting point, so if you don't feel like watching the cheap anime you can skip it, or the first series altogether.
>>139012104
>skipping the anime
shameful, anon
it may be bad, but it's not that bad
>>139011975
Disagreed.
Read the scanlations for the first series (Grappler Baki) up to where we're at right now, then switch over to the anime for the rest of series one. The art is obviously much better and it's a lot faster to read. Gaia's like 4 episodes in the anime, and like 15 minutes to actually read.
>>139012055
I don't think so. What makes you say that?
REVIVE BAKI THREADS
Also Musashi hurting Pickle with imaginary sword is retarded.
>>139013998
the fact that we even have regular baki threads now is a miracle to begin with
>>138991404
when is baki gonna fight gene spliced animal people?
>>139014465
I love Baki. I know it's stupid as fuck but it just works.
>>139015150
Next arc probably.
>>139015150
I'm sure there's animal genes somewhere in Jack's drugs; he probably counts as part-animal
And if he doesn't, the Yasha Ape(s) are p much exactly that
RETSU REVIVAL WHEN

>>139015567
>>139015613
He was one of the few characters that I liked...
>>139015638
Me too.
>>139015638
>one of the few characters
like one of the main selling points of the series is how likeable the majority of the characters are, how can you like "few" of them
>>139015567
>Katsumi gets actual robo-arm
>imaginary robot bones for impossibly high impact with 0 repercussions
On that note, does anyone have the colored versions of this image and the one where he's in a pre-seiken pose? I had them, and now I can't find them.
Alright, I'm finalizing 79 and 80 right now. Dunno when Spiny wants to release them (or when he's awake), but presumably sooner rather than later, so check for a release thread like tomorrow or something.
>>139015959
I mean Retsu's arm. Glue Retsu's arm to Katsumi's stump so he has karate/kung fu/boxing powers now
Spiny is going on a break family
>>139002608
You don't seriously expect me to accept that Yujiro didn't see the smoke bomb coming? We're talking about Yujiro, who constantly seeks out and assimilated different ways to fight, and who is himself a walking martial arts encyclopedia
See, if for example Itagaki spends another 10 pages depicting Motobe running for his life with Yujiro in hot pursuit and barely made it out alive - that would be acceptable if not still controversial.
Instead we get 10 pages of Yujiro having some wine and snacks, 2 pages of those were copy-pastas, and ending with the smoke bomb. It's frigging lazy-writing
>>139016078
I know he's going on break you nerd, I just didn't know how we were handling it
>Since there will be no releases next week, I might just try to get some more chapters out this week. But if I cant hey just be here in 2 weeks to get back to it.
So I guess we're still gonna be able to get 79, 80, maybe 81 out before he's free. I don't know why he says important things in blog posts that we might not read and not to us
Katsumi's spent like the last year perfecting his "original one-armed nonsense", so I doubt he even wants his arm back; if he does, he'll be really tsundere about it anyway
>>139015282
"It Just Works" should be the tag for these threads
>>139016479
Instead of replying to you myself, I'm going to post a page. Wait, shit.
>>139003499
They were, but they did admit it.
>>139016479
Ogre just stands around and has a fit the way he did when Ali Jr. walked away
>>139016536
It would be his f@m's arm, he would take it
Never read baki before so can somebody explain why so much panels was wasted on that guy face!
>>139016479
I don't think it's that odd that an arc defined by surprising uplifts in power tiers has yuji being surprised. It's tone-shift approps
>>139016479
>not appreciating the fine art of copypasta
what's the matter, 2deep4u?
>>139016621
Still lazy writing. This guy makes cameo appearances since the prisoners arc and then all of a sudden he becomes relevant. There was no build up, it started off with a cliff hanger page where he declared his intention to protect everyone, and while we're still thinking "is this guy serious?", we get this page you posted.
Look, I like Baki, and I'm holding on to the hope that Itagaki will reward our patience with a satisfactory conclusion to this arc, but boy is he testing us
>>139017012
>and while we're still thinking "is this guy serious?", we get this page you posted.
That... that was the point.
>>139016807
He's the strongest creature on the face of the Earth; he can compress coal with his fist until it becomes miniscule diamond fragments and fights modern armies. "I will protect you" is not a sentence that quite registers with him.
Fuck, we could really use a redrawer. Not having one is starting to get on my nerves. Does anybody here know anyone who can redraw at all, or is anyone at least willing to harass people in scanlation threads into doing it?
cus we kinda need that right now, a lot
our cleaner does the best he can, but I just can't fill all this space
