I blame the new director, whoever it is. Part 3 anime had its moments but overall was just way worse than the manga because of animation issues + pacing and directing issues. (Meanwhile, Part 1 and 2 were better than the source material imo.) I expect to be entertained by the new anime but I doubt it will live up to the wonderful manga. Araki is really good at expressive art and tense pacing, he could easily be making thriller manga instead of JoJo.

Why is it that adapting 3-4 chapters in Jojo feels so slow compared to 3-4 chapters in some other manga? Is it just because of the 80s-90s shonen pacing as a whole? I don't remember Yu Yu Hakusho feeling as slow despite adapting the same amount of content per episode. Meanwhile going through the first half of the SC anime is an enormous chore.

I really didn't mind the pacing all that much, and even if you did you can hardly blame them.
You can't really boil down 6 chapters worth of fighting into one episode without it getting rushed as fuck, but it's also a bit little for two episodes, resulting in a bit of slow pacing here and there. But SC in itself is also slow, and somewhat tedious with nothing but stand fights to drive the plot forward, so I won't fault David for that.

I think that the way those parts were set up was a big part of it. They're really short and the plot is constantly moving, since there are fewer filler enemies.
David also used had some brilliant uses of colour, like when Jonathan tossed the torch in the catacombs and the colours switched to cooler pastel shades instead of the warm earthy tones without actually changing the brightness of the image much. The first two parts are chock full of dazzling shit like that: take the famous Mark's death pose for example. They really made the parts more interesting to watch.
Stardust Crusaders usually played it much safer with that stuff, mostly reserving it for the climaxes of fights where they switched the colour palettes. The only uses of colour that really wowed me off the top of my head would be The World's brown note activation effect, or when D'arby nearly had a stroke on the poker table and his face became shaded with radically different colours.

And that actually ressembles more how an actual fight works than what we see in most of shonen fights. I actually can't enjoy a battle based in unrealistic choreographies and huge powers blast anymore.

But if you must, continue on to Part 4 and try to read it before the anime airs. Or just watch the anime then read Part 5, and then be turned off of the JoJo manga forever because your first impression of it was a horrible translation.

It's like reading the plot synopsis of Sparknotes but it's hilariously inaccurate and there were points where they actually just made shit up. I'm not the anon that started this but 'horrible' wasn't the best choice of words. They were pretty bad, but they got the gist of what was going on across. Unfortunately there's a lot more subtly we missed out on not to mention the made up stuff and how every character feels bland and samey. It's not horrible but it's far from 'good, 'serviceable' is about the highest praise you could give it.

Death Note, HxH and OPM all have that continuous beat type of soundtrack that doesn't make the most of the situation, save rare exceptions, namely the opening theme which has to be memorable.
And Jojo, for me at least, is like 50% the music and 50% everything else. Maybe because I really got into it when I read the manga and listened to every band that was referenced in it. It's like Araki wanted to add a soundtrack with the references.
For example, in Phantom Blood there's Tarkus, and the track which accompanies his fight is reminiscent of the album Tarkus by Emerson Lake and Palmer. That really helped set the mood and make things more interesting.
I doubt Madhouse could do that, they've always disappointed me on that level.

The designs aren't the only issue. Madhouse, at least in the past 6 years, has been known for modifying and rushing parts of a story as they see fit just to speed up important exposition they deem boring and overglorify the "epic" scenes. That habit is one of the worst fucking things you can do when the point of adapting JoJo is faithfulness to the source material. Anime like OPM and Hunter x Hunter were severely rushed at key moments in the series just so they can get to the good bits, and Kiseiju was straight up neutered in the spirit of modernization.
And that's not even to mention their disgusting reliance on speedlines and dragging character models in place of true inbetweens. I will say that their animation is some of the best in the industry right now, but that's not saying much when we're discussing an indsutry plagued by reliance on CGI and outsourcing to Asia.
tl;dr Fuck Madhouse, I'm glad David is doing it.

Yea that was one of the better things about Part 4. Every other part, the protagonists are outgunned by the villain's amazing Stand. In Part 4, Kira is both outnumbered and extremely outgunned by the heroes, he can't beat a single one of them in a 1 on 1 fair fight, so he relies on his wits to survive. Kira is wily and hard to pin down, he likes to keep his distance in fights and would rather never get caught to begin with. But if pinned down, Crazy Diamond absolutely destroys Killer Queen. Shit, so does Star Platinum, Echoes Act 3 and probably The Hand + Heaven's Door. Fatty probably would have never lost either if he knew about KQ's bomb ability.

If he fought alongside Sheer Heart Attack, he could do some serious damage. Hell, an automated Sheer Heart Attack almost got Jotaro and Koichi. If Kira ever decided to fight using it as support he could be a formidable opponent. One on one it would have [no weaknesses] unless you're Okuyasu. Then you can just erase Sheer Heart attack, but then you'll get outwitted by Kira anyway. We've seen how Koichi dealt with both Kira and SHA. Jotaro would need to time stop spam to win.
But in the end Kira just will NOT go for the direct confrontation, and that's just how the cookie crumbles. Although the one time he DID try to do it by himself, he got ORA'd, so there. If only he had just released SHA again.
