I found Inou Battle to be mediocre. Trigger has really only excelled with Little Witch Academiaand Inferno Cop and Ninja Slayer if you want to be that wayand for obvious reasons there. We'll see how they do with Kiznaiver but with Mari Okada at the reins, it's going to be a hit or miss.

Not him, but Innou Battle was surprisingly watchable. It's not even a battle harem, because there are almost no battles, and only 2 competitors. It was just a fun, if incredibly bland, SoL with nice animation, and an insufferably chuuni MC.
You won't be missing anything by skipping it, but it's a nice look at how Trigger would fare if they worked on more normal shows.

I still managed to enjoy the second OVA, though I can definitely see where you're coming from in terms of your complaints (I think). I went in with low expectations, thinking it wasn't going to be anywhere as good as the first, so that might have helped.
