Everything about fighting in Zestiria is bad. They restrict you to 4-hit combos and you need to spend a point that's fastest received by holding defend for a long time to use 4 more artes in a string. There are very few artes to begin with, you run out of SC faster than you can combo, and since enemies will randomly break out of stagger if you're not hitting them with their weakness with EVERY single attack there's literally no reason not to just spam the same arte repeatedly, or fuse and spam the same arte.

The only part in the game that I honestly felt any kind of "shit that's actually pretty heavy" emotion for was the final series of boss cutscenes + the final boss fight.
Even the Tiamat fight, while cool, was ruined by horrible gameplay mechanics (had way too much health so the fight dragged on forever)
Really it was supposed to be the climax of the story, so people joining in the fight or a joint mystic arte rather than the occasional "heres a volley of arrows" would've been good. Instead we get what every other aspect of the game, especially the story, suffers from - wasted potential.

No air game which is just terrible considering Team Destiny had some of the best air game in Hearts and Destiny DC. Limited arte trees and poorly implemented weakness system so gameplay is generally reduced to mashing the A-artes button, and abusing eleth burst and accel. That ties into the fact that the hi-ougis are terribly unbalanced and spamming them is the best way to take down any boss. The CC kickback isn't instant like in Destiny DC, which makes it harder to keep combos going and forces you to turtle.
Not sure if that's everything, but those are some of the major points. I also believe the OTG game was gimped as well, but I'm not so sure since I haven't played Graces in a while.
Compared to something like this, it's a steaming pile of shit.
