Why do people dislike this so much?

The movie was heralded as the best thing Kyoani did after Disappearance/Nichijou/Hyouka, and it made people return to the TV anime and realize it wasn't bad at all.
It also had one of the best Kyoani girls ever.

I enjoyed it. There were just some aspects I disliked.

>Shiori didn't have to exist
>The fantasy elements were unnecessary

Because it's good.
Because it's KyoAni and half the board thinks it's hip to hate on them.

I don't know but it was boring as hell. No conflicts, no comedy, no character development, no real love story. Even the two Azusas didn't make it any better.
It came at a time when KyoAni was still seen as a god, and the current antiKyoani shitposting was still in its budding stages, so everyone was super stoked about the series.
But in the end it was lukewarm. It wasn't BAD by any means, but it betrayed the expectation that it would be amazing and in some way unique like anything with the kyoani brand on it until then.
