They already revealed his design and he's prominent in promotional materials, not to mention he's introduced WAY before halfway into DiU, so he'll be in this season. Judging from the poster a few days ago this season will end at either Shigechi getting blown up or Sheer Heart Attack since none of the Stand user's Kira's dad makes are on it. It didn't show a lot of characters but that's not reason to assume they're not going to be in it.

It's really good but the monthly releases make it feel glacially paced. A lot happens in each chapter but it doesn't feel like it most of the time until you look back on it objectively. I would start reading it now, waiting til it's finished will just mean no JoJo for at least another 3 years, plus you can join in on the fun discussion. 1 thing monthly releases do right is build hype, and the last 10 or so chapters have delivered fully on the unwarranted hype we're having so Araki is really mastering how to pace a monthly manga and keep readers involved. It's also just as good as SBR so far but much more consistent and with no filler; EVERYTHING that has happened so far has been plot critical and contributes to the mystery element of the story. It'll probably end up as the best Part provided Araki doesn't forget anything but he's just now revealing answers to things from the beginning of the Part that would suggest he actually has had the plot outlined since the beginning, so he won't forget anything hopefully.
It's really good so far, and monthly releases are painful but a necessary evil especially considering how hype we got for recent chapters and they managed to deliver. So get reading.

I'm enjoying it immensely. The characters are interesting and entertaining and it's been very high quality overall so far. As much as I like SBR it had some downright retarded fights and arcs like Tomb of the Boom and Mrs Robinson alongside standouts like Ringo and Civil War. Also JJL hasn't had any real filler so far as everything is related to the story, even SBR had filler albeit some was fucking awful and some excellent. It has the weakest MC since Jonathan, and barely any crew at all, Yashuo is good but there hasn't been THAT much of her. Until the rockmen came along it just seemed to be going nowhere, and even now it lacks a lot of direction. The best parts have been the flashbacks in the last few months imo, I wish Kira was the main character.
I just don't find myself involved in the plot or characters like in any previous parts. Not to say I'm not loving it more than basically any other manga, just less than most other parts. The art has often been fantastic though and its certainly had some real high points.

I disagree with Gappy being bad, but I can see the argument of it seeming directionless before Rock Humans showing up. I like what it's trying to do but I feel like the monthly schedule makes it hard to keep up with since it's such a slow burn, if it was weekly he would have covered the same ground in probably a few months and be right into the thick of it like the other weekly parts. That said I think he's improved DRADTICALLY with the last 10 or so chapters of keeping hype and suspense at a suitable level for a month at a time, so hopefully that keeps up. Also it's subjective but I love almost every Stand design in JJL so far; Soft and Wet is cool as shit and I love Born this Way and Vitamin C. Different strokes I guess.

Yeah that is definitely one of Part 8's strongest suits, the stands have been great. I Am A Rock, King Nothing, Paisley Park, all hnnnng.
I guess the crux of it is me just not liking Gappy at all, he seems so empty and devoid of character. At the start he was literally autistic but generally he's just been "nice guy who wins fights", like a JoJo striped of everything but the most essential qualities. We never see him do anything cool like beat that guy up while telling Yashuo to look away again, too.

He has weird subtleties like that that make him likeable but a big part of his character is finding out what his character is. I'm rereading early JJL and noticing more that he's actually kind of ruthless and cocky at times, like when he beats Daiya and she asks if he hates her he immediately gets a little grin and says yes, and that if she wants him to not hate her then she has to start doing what he says. He only really acts himself around Yasuho since he trusts her, even when Norisuke tells him why he took him in and starts acting genuinely friendly to him he's still reserved around him. Ge seems cocky too which he rubs in the undercover cop's faces on Shakedown Road when he manages to trick Joshuu and scam everyone else so he can pay the Pet Shop owner.
And speaking of Stands, I don't even dislike California King Bed, despite looking absolutely flat out fucktarded it somehow works.

Yep. Based on the characters on the poster, this season will end at either Shigechi getting kaboomed or Sheer Heart Attack. They pretty much confirmed with the announcement trailer that no one was being skipped. The PVs didn't show Tonio but they only showed stuff from the first few episodes, the latest thing they showed was The Hand and a single line from Okuyasu so nowhere near up to Tonio but there's no reason to worry about him being cut.
