Honestly, the problem with KnB isn't that they have pseudo magical powers, it's that powers in a long running series inevitably means escalating powerlevels. The zone is hype, but then they have to force more hype with that second door bullshit, and it just gets dumber and dumber over time. Funnily enough one of the most hype games I've seen in anime is the HxH dodgeball game and that's quite literally done with magic powers.

I think the problem with the Shiratorizawa match wasn't so much that it was actually bad, but that it came right after such an emotional match with some of the most sympathetic characters in the manga. There's nothing wrong with Shiratorizawa as a teamexcept fucking Satori, it's just that your heart doesn't really go out to them the way it does with Oikawa and Iwaizumi because their circumstances are so different.
I think it's also one of those matches you have to read in one fell swoop, not over the course of weeks. The people who were keeping up with it weekly seemed really frustrated with it and I don't blame them. Something about the way the match is crafted just calls for reading the chapters all in one go.

Baby Steps when it comes to the sport part was extremely good, the animation failed pretty often tho, i also enjoyed the characters. It has a lot of realism and just the tiny bit of unrealistic part that was needed for it to be fun. I think the show is in danger of falling into the same trap of Daiya no Ace, where it's just one game after another with very little time to build up hype or flesh out characters in another setting. You just end up not caring because you proceed from game to game so fast.
