Do you rewatch series, and if yes why? I have seen 300 titles

Do you rewatch series, and if yes why?
I have seen 300 titles and I haven't rewatched any of them. I don't see the point in rewatching anything when there are so many anime out there that I haven't seen yet.
>>
>>138848039
It's called comfort zone.
>>
Why wouldn't I rewatch anime I like?
I eat foods I liked more than once, even though I could be eating something new.
>>
>>138848098
This

>>138848039

I've got over 1,500 and I always make time to go back to my comfort zones.
>>
>>138848039

Sometimes I miss things the first time.
>>
>>138848098
It's called being retarded and wasting time which could be spent trying out new shows or reading manga like everyone should instead of watching trashy anime.

You'll never get the same experience watching the show again as you did the first time so it's entirely pointless.
>>
>>138848143
This analogy gave me cancer. I'll die tomorrow. Thanks for that.
>>
>>138848160
No, it's really called comfort zone.
>>
Better to watch half as many shows and understand them and enjoy them than to watch and forget a bunch.
It's not just about making your list of "watched shows" go up.
>>
>>138848039
>Do you rewatch series, and if yes why?
Yes. Because I like to rewatch things that I like.
>>
>>138848039
I rewatch my favorites because I find more things I like about them every time I rewatch.
>>
>>138848039
Watch more. I started rewatching shows once I got to around 500. You must have some favorites and after a few years they are fun to revisit.
>>
Because I fucking want to, mostly
>>
>>138848160
>You'll never get the same experience
You don't have to if it's a genuinely good show you enjoy. By rewatching it you can pick up more details which can allow you to come to a greater understanding of why you enjoyed it as much as you did.
>>
>>138848168
Glad I could do my part in making the word a slightly better place.
>>
>>138848160
>You'll never get the same experience watching the show again as you did the first time so it's entirely pointless
That's actually kind of the point, a new experience when you rewatch it. If you call a show your favorite yet have never taken the time to rewatch it, then I have to doubt if what you feel for that show truly is genuine.
>>
>>138848039
>Do you rewatch series,
yup.
>and if yes why?
either for the heck of it, or to show them to my wife.

Especially in case of some bit older series, I often notice having forgotten lots of details. We marathoned S1 of Durarara together just weeks ago, and while I'd been enjoying S2 since it started airing, thinking I knew the basics, I started noticing tons of early signs and hints of things to come, and even realized I'd forgotten that some characters even existed.

>>138848039
If you don't find anime good enough to re-watch you need to do what you're doing; keep looking.
When you find something you _really_ like you will want to watch is several times.
>>
Take NGE for example.

There is so much shit you won't get the first time you watch it.
Pretty much every scene includes something like symbolism and/or parallels

I mean it could be coincedence, that Shinji gets introduced at a phone booth but it could also be an artistic decision to show that Shinji tries to reach out to others but from a save distance, which would be one of his major themes at the start of the series.
>>
>>138848160
>It's called wasting time
>could be spent trying out new shows or reading mang
What the shit? It's wasting time no matter what show you're watching. You don't watch anime to earn money, you watch to have entertainment, if you enjoy watching an old show you like more than trying some obscure shit that you probably won't like, I don't see what's the problem.
What will you earn by watching more titles? A bigger MAL list?
>>
>>138848333
>>138848352
No rewatching is just boring as shit since you'll know every single event beforehand and just makes things meh as you watch it again.
>>
Not usually which is why I delete after watching.

Not only is rewatching a waste. Staying too focused on any one series is a waste, too.
Really, you need to have to computers playing two different shows at the same time. At double speed. This quadruples your rate of watching.
You can easily do this while browsing /a/. Just glance at the screens every few moments to catch some good reaction images.
>>
>>138848039
I don't rewatch things unless there's a specific reason for me to, anime or otherwise. There's so much material out there I feel that I'm wasting my time rewatching things. A big joy of watching shows is not knowing what comes next. Some people can also enjoy it knowing what comes next, but for me it's a big part of why I like them and it feels like a waste if I already know. Even if I forget specific things I feel like I remember the general flow of it, and it isn't as enjoyable for me.
>>
I was out of town once with my laptop, after I caught up on everything I had nothing to watch so I rewatched S;G.

One day I may rewatch GitS:SAC, NGE and maybe even K-ON!
>>
Yes, I've completely rewatched series I really like such as eva and nhk 4~10 times, not to mention rewatching favorite single episodes/scenes 100+ times, often over and over on the same sitting.

I'm a plebeian who's watched less than 100 anime, but could have watched over 400 if I just discarded anime I like to watch the next new thing - but I just can't.
>>
If a season is trash (which is too common lately, thus I have little to no stuff in my backlog) I will instead watch old stuff that I know for sure I enjoy.
And it doesn't have to be anime.

I don't mind rewatching an anime I haven't seen in like a decade, or watching movie versions of TV series that I already finished (if you count that as rewatching), but it seems a bit pointless to rewatch an anime annually or within 1-3 years of your last rewatch.

There's like 40-50 new anime every season and there are literally thousands of already finished anime, surely it would be better to spend your time trying to find new stuff to enjoy instead of going back to the old stuff you've already seen?
>>
Can never rewatch stuff. Something about it just infuriates me.
There are shows I started 2-3 years ago that I have tried to restart since I never finished them but after the first couple of episodes I drop it.

I have never ever understood this attitude. Do you also only listen to a song once? Do you only visit a favorite park once? Do you only eat a certain food once?

Aside from comfort zone. If you watch something other than retarded shit or genuinely enjoy the medium then most of the time rewatching will result in noticing that you missed at least a third of the material. Shit like NGE, FLCL Haruhi Madoka, Monogatari, Kaiba, etc. There's a ton of examples.

No. I'd just go back to food I love as frequently as I return to anime I love.

Yep here's a list of anime I've watched multiple times.
Inuyasha 2
Clannad 3
Clannad Kyou and Ryou ark 8
Clannad after story 3
Madoka 2
Evangelion 4
Squid Girl 2
Death note 2
Kinos journey 2 1/2
NGNL 2
FLCL 4
Paranoia Agent 3
Exp Lain 2
I'm sure if I spent more time thinking I could think of plenty of more and the sad part is you think I'm joking.

I need to know what this is from. I assume that's meant to Asakua but I sure as shit don't remember this part.
>>
>>138848039
Never. The closest is a show that I watched as a child, sort of, but my memory is hazy enough that I don't mind watching. Other than that, I barely have time to watch current stuff, let alone drag out some show I watched 6 years ago and has been discussed to death most likely.
>>
>>138848039
I've rewatched Steins;Gate six times, Ping Pong two times, Tatami Galaxy once, almost every episode of Erased at least twice, among others.

You pick up a lot more details on the second watch. Especially for things like S;G, Tatami Galaxy, and Erased. I notice that I pay much more attention to the imagery and music on a rewatch than I did the first time.

Sometimes I want to watch anime with friends like all of you. Sharing things you like with others who enjoy it feels great.

Have you people who've said rewatching is a waste of time even though about where you are right now? Being on /a/ is a much bigger waste of time.

Almost every 9/10+ series is worth re-watching at least once, too.

I watch so many new anime and drop most of them from disappointment. It's those few each year that I will watch over and over again that give me the motivation to even bother. I probably take it overboard though, watching several series 5-10 times. It's especially a good time while getting shitfaced on the weekend; nothing like rum, pizza, and Code Geass.
