I do like him quite a bit, however. Mahouka is not really an interesting setting, and the anime is boring - But the objectivism, semi-fascist rhetoric and ubermensch stuff is a uniquely hilarious combination to watch.
I also like that Tatsuya's powers are actually achievable by anyone. Seriously, this is the crux of the character: What makes him utterly broken? It's not his POWERS. Technically, his power is atomic manipulation, but you would die from sheer pain if you tried to do what he died.
No, what makes him superhuman is his mind. They emotionally lobotomized him, and in the process - They freed him.

yeah but she gets that power at the end of the flask plan arc, before that they mostly kicked her ass, and it was completely useless in the minus arc since it's basicallly 120% times a negative number.

Goku surpassed Gohan after he stopped training because he just didn't give a shit. Even then Toriyama lists Gohan's power as 100 and Goku at 97 in a chart from the RoF BDs.
Gohan will always be more powerful as long as he gets some special training for 2 days or some shit that Toriyama loves to pull out his ass.
He's not a Mary Sue though since he gets trashed all the time.
