Nasujima and Shijima gave him that gun because Nasujima wanted to use Saika to control some policemen later and arrest Mikado, if I remember correctly.
Mikado used that because I assume he knew about the yakuza's plan to have him shot the normal gun and have him killed/arrested, so he went ahead with his plans with the gun Nasujima gave him instead, so the yakuza wouldn't be able to get him for that.

Absolutely amazing episode. I can't believe there are people watching this who say it's still shit. DRRR has been phenomenal this season, capitalizing on all the buildup it's done in its past seasons.

I've had this thread open since yesterday and I was rewatching the episode today. I only noticed when >>138862672 quoted OP.

I forgot how much of a cluster fuck this show can be, with people having their own plans in motion, just so the friend of a friend of a comrade would cross them and either fuck it up or help them along the way.

Also, got really feelsy for Kida this entire ep. He seemed genuinely hurt and sad from all of this.
