I don't even understand why he claimed to love her in the first place, he hasn't shown it at all. His continued tolerance of her toxic presence is as romantic as they got, the rest of the time he's all over Sukeroku both emotionally and physically. This episode could not contrast more his lack of fucks about her compared to his love for Sukeroku('s rakugo).
Was it just the fujo mangaka's attempt to make it seem less like BL while still making it as BL as she wanted?
