People who tell you to watch it in broadcast order are trying to recapture something which is impossible to recapture. Basically you have two options:
1. Chronological Order
2. Watch season 1 in broadcast order one episode per week. Now wait three years. Then watch season 1 and 2 in mixed chronological order, again, one episode per week. Then wait another year and watch the movie. Otherwise you're not getting the AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE AS IT WAS INTENDED.

Broadcast increases the complexity and has a more ordered ramping up of experiences. It's also more creative, you get to see something different rather than the same kind of lel supernatural highschool fantasy drama cynical MC that you're probably sick of by now.

Broadcast order is so much better to the chronologicalorder, it's ridiculous. The two aren't even comparable.
The best example of this is 'The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00'. In chronological order, the entire episode is nothing more than a weak punchline to the Sigh arc. You know everything that's going to happen in it, the only addition is Kyon's snarky commentary.
In broadcast order, however, it becomes one of the greatest first episodes in all of anime. The roles of Mikuru, Yuki and Koizumi are loaded with foreshadowing for their true identities. Kyon's narration gives wonderful insight into his character, whilst Haruhi, who has absolutely no presence in the episode before the end, is perfectly introduced by revealing that not only is she the "Ultra Director" responsible for that abomination of a student film - she's proud of it, too.
And I could make cases for the order being perfect for all the episodes of the broadcast version. Ishihara and KyoAni didn't just rearrange the plot for gimmick reasons, they made an effort to create one of the best viewing experiences possible out of the light novel material.
Anyway, the best way to watch Haruhi is to watch season 1 in broadcast order, then wait a week or so, watch season 1 and 2 together in the 2009 chronological order, then watch Disappearance.
Step 1: Watch season one
Step 2: Watch Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody
Step 3: Watch movie
