Holy shit why do people say this? These two shows are nothing alike in the slightest. The only thing that's common ground for the two is some mild economics, the likes of which in Maoyu was ultra basic macro and took up only a small handful of episodes, if I remember right. It was more about politics. But more importantly, the character interaction and subsequent "romance" between the two MCs was literally meant for children. Spice and Wolf's mainstay, and greatest quality, was the character dynamic between Holo and Lawrence. Yet this was, by far, the weakest point in Maoyu. How in the actual fuck do these two shows even come up in the same conversation?
I didn't hate this show by any means. It was a comfy, mindless 7/10 and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for just that. But I can definitely see anyone looking for another S&W be sorely disappointed in watching this.

The Maoyu anime was so fucking bad. The manga is great.
I'm not even complaining about the lack of economics, either: the big moments were handled very poorly and it all just fell flat.

Fortunately, I was very skeptical going into this show. I still liked it for it's basic premise, but when it came to the actual characters it could of done a hell of a lot better. I kinda liked how nobody actually had names, though.
