Dumping a few chapters of Sangokushi whenever I have time now that it's completely translated.
Recap of story so far: After the death of chancellor Dong Zhuo, his generals squabble over control of the capital and emperor, prompting the emperor to flee with a small band of loyal servants.
For those who don't know what this is, it's a faithful adaptation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Yokoyama Mitsuteru, the mangaka of Tetsujin 28, Giant Robo, Mars, etc. The art isn't amazing but if you've ever wanted to get into Three Kingdoms but didn't feel like slogging through book, reading this is the easiest way. The 2010 Chinese TV series was alright too, but that skips out on some fun arcs.

Am I doing something wrong, or did they walk like 200km?
>>138684806
They didn't walk for the entire journey. They initially started on a carriage and then switched to a boat. I think it's quite possible to cover much of the distance from Chang'an to Luoyang by boat.
>>138684892
Oh, right, the boat. It's pretty cool to have a map and see where things actually are. My geographical knowledge of China is nonexistent.

Really should've thought through the whole running away plan.

Body count is kind of high in this manga.

Aren't all old-school warfare?
>>138688275
During the brief unified period after the three kingdoms period, the official state census showed that the population was only one third of the number recorded during the Eastern Han dynasty before all the civil wars.
Of course, some of this also reflects the receding state power which is unable to get every citizen recorded on the official census (and hence, eligible to pay tax) but it's still an enormous population decline.

Not necessarily. Really depends on how densely populated the warring societies are, as well as cultural norms. For instance, there could be cultural norms against killing elites (think feudal Europe, where nobles were more often ransomed for money) or the purpose of war could be more geared to slave-raiding, hence sparing war captives (like in West African warfare).

Funny how Mars and Saturn are Roman terms.
>>138688644
Not much you can do in translation. Mars is spelled "fire star" and Saturn is spelled "earth star" in Chinese.
And that's the end of the volume and the dump today.

Yeah, I had some hesitations about that. I probably should have included a tl note in this instance though. It's also why I decided not to use the English terms for the months and opted to say "first month" instead of January.
Thanks, Hox.
