If you're talking about Haruhi, she's not too bad. Only time I ever found myself disliking her was during the movie production arc. Other than Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody, though, I've completely erased season 2 from my mind. She's a pretty likable character in the episodes that are actually important.

It was my first downloaded anime, but I don't think that's why I liked it. I think it was extremely original at its time and it wasn't afraid to throw some new-wave-but-scientific theories at the reader/watcher.
Kyon is an amazingly good character, we can relate to him but he isn't played out like every other anime stereotype.

This and the whole club room setting slice of life thing really took off after this anime. I especially enjoyed it because it took something cliche and did fun stuff with it and was always aware of the craziness through Kyon's objective hilarious narrative lens. So many anons don't realize why this is what made Haruhi great. They forget or did not watch it in 2006. So to the OP obviously yes, I enjoyed it unironically.
Haruhi is a huge asshole in the beginning of the anime, completely unreasonable and Kyon doesn't let that slide all of the time. However she has real character development where she becomes kinder and more rational thanks to her friends, which unfortunately isn't the case for lots of asshole female leads.
