Diebuster DVDs were among the first anime DVDs I bought when I was in middle school. Didn't watch Gunbuster until years after, but the ending blew my mind, especially considering how far apart the production was of each series. It was insane.Lal'c a best.

One thing that I liked about DB was how it explored a bit more of the pilot/machine relationship. Nono was obviously a main character but she was also a buster machine like 19 and the rest, who didn't really get speaking parts despite being sentient to a degree. In a society where technology has advanced so far and AI aren't very far off, I thought the speech that Nono's foster dad gave at the end was really good at relating her plight to Noriko's:
