Right about Grimmjow eating his Fraccion and ascending to VL, but regressing and splitting up when hybridized by the hougyoku. The hints were all there. The fact that him, Shawlong and Yammy were the first three hougyoku arrancar. How Grimmjow ate all his followers, yet only one of them had the marks to show for it. Now that I think of it Yammy was a botched creation too, but he gradually regained his powers by eating a ton.
If Grimmjow can go into Segunda then he had potential for VL after all. Kubo said that he wanted to write about the civil war in HM prior to Aizen becoming its new king.

Why did this make me laugh
I pointed out a few threads back that in the raws, Kubo wrote the chapter number of 665 out as 六六五, which is unusual; it should read either 665 in arabic numerals, or 六百六十五 in kanji. There's no furigana to denote it being read any differently than it appears, so it actually reads as "Roku Roku Go"(Six Six Five) and not "Roppyaku Roku-juu Go"(six Hundred Sixty Five).
This is weird because Kubo typically writes the numbers out in arabic numerals, like basically every other manaka ever, and the last time he played with using kanji numbers it was in "Baby, Hold Your Hand 七" but that was a play on 七 being read Nana, and the reveal that Nemu's full name/label was Nemuri Nanagou(眠七號): "Sleeping No.7"
Is there some kind of meaning or wordplay to this I'm missing? Has anyone picked up on anything it might play into? It seems like a pretty ominous time to be messing with things, especially big obvious hard to miss things like the chapter cover

At the end of the day he's still just a human being though. He's got human organs, human muscles, and a human mind.
He might be able to become immune to CO2 poisoning, he might be able to become immune to blood loss, and he might be able to become immune to the buildup of lactic acid in his body, but that doesn't mean he isn't fucked.
His body still will need Oxygen to function, regardless of how little the amount. He's going to get weaker and weaker without circulating blood and his mind will get slower and slower.
If he has to actively think about this shit, it's only a matter of time now, but if not, he'll just be a barely alive mess of shit squirming around on the ground.

technically we don't know that any of the quincy in the wandenreich, save uryuu, are still human. Part of Urahara's whole thing the first time he sent Uryuu off to SoulSociety with the gang was that they all had to use his special gate. We don't know how Yhwach and his goons got into SoulSociety the first time. They may have left their physical bodies behind when they did it, effectively making them all spirits at this point, which would remedy the whole quincy-are-just-squishy-humans-with-lasers thing. Or at least it would remedy it if Kubo blatantly ignoring everything about quincys hadn't already smoothed over that plothole.

I mean our only sources of information prior to this arc was basically Shinigami propaganda and second-hand information from a teenager, who was purposly kept in ignorance. The soul piece of Yhwach enhances one's power. It doesn't give just abilities. And Askin was noted to being hard to kill even before he met Yhwach. Giselle survived getting stabbed into the heart, sliced in half and a broken neck. Quilge did to. Lille survived a decapitation. Gremmy was able to live as just a brain (though that could be because he's possibly related to the Soul King) and Tsukishima survived quite some time with the big hole in his chest.
