There are multiple ways to look at this in all honesty.
The simplest solution is to assume something has happened that makes the original cast not mention the 02 cast at all as if they don't know them. It could be mind wiping or mind alteration.
Another possibility is that this is some form of alternate reality and 02 played out differently.
Here is a good one. The entire franchise is made up about the Digital World. We're actually watching the Digital World. It's a new Digital World simulating the real world. It's all a simulation and these are simulations of the original casts in what might be their worst possible situations.
The Dark Ocean was revealed to be an alternate reality where the bad concepts a person can think become reality. We could literally be watching an extended Dark Ocean experience involving the original digimon cast.
However, the most likely option is: Toei did not care to write a coherent story and did not give a fuck about the 02 cast at all and assumed nobody else would either.

6. The final battle will consist of Jogress evolutions that are brand new and have not existed outside of this medium (to sell shit)
7. Ultimately the kids and the digimon will all matrix and jogress evolution into one being with the power of all crests OR Omegamon uses a new type of evolution (DigiXros) and combines itself with parts of the Matrix evolution or Jogress evolution of the other kids digimon

I can see this, but at the same time i doubt it, these movies have been about the kids getting over themselves and growing up, they will beat the big bad on there own.

We had no idea that was possible prior to Our War Game. 02 acts like it's the most normal shit in the world, but back in Adventure, the only way to and from the Digital World was via magic portals in the sky.

Even if the reason they have for not explaining the absence of the 02 characters is perfect and completely makes sense on all fronts, the damage of waiting this long has already been done. It makes the story thus far seem completely baffling and really shows just how out of character everyone truly is.

The entire plot of Determination is Joe not wanting to fight again. Not once during the entire movie does he mention the 02 cast who were literally his successors so he wouldn't have to fight.
He never once brings up the group of new kids that took over the mantle he left.
He only mentions he doesn't want to fight.
That is an example of bad writing. That is an example of what people are talking about when people wonder why the 02 cast aren't being mentioned.
Did you forget that Daisuke, Hikari, and Takeru shared the same class literally a year prior? They all went to the same school.
Their classmates, squadmates, and friends are completely MIA and not a single piece of dialogue explains why.

They have actually. The adventure cast seemed to have most gone their separate ways but still kept incontact with one another, so why are the 02 kids being left out. Why is the key thing here? We as the audience know something happened to them but the cast doesn't and when a new threat emerged they don't even try to explain why they are not contacting the them. Takeru and Hikari went through a whole season bonding with them and they have not even shown any concern for their wellbeing.
After watching the second Tri movie I've come to realize that Palmon is the most adorable digimon in existence. Her voice and mannerisms are diabetes incarnate.

The problem is that at its core the plot is fucked by not mentioning them. X3: The Last Stand had this same problem too when Cyclops died but no one mentions him missing until the end. As people have pointed out several times in this thread and the last, Joe's whole character arc was about him not wanting to be a digidestined and having to fight, but never makes an argument that there are other digidestined that can do it (the 02 crew and those other's around the world, specifically though the 02 crew). Daisuke goes (went) to the same school as Takari, and they're good friends, yet, neither of them question the fact that he's missing? Why hasn't Koushiro tried to make contact with them? It's not like he hasn't before. Why aren't the government people bringing them up?
Ultimately, the problem with your line of thinking is that you're viewing Tri as a stand alone entity, and not the third entry in a series. If 02 didn't exist, and we were shown that scene at the start, it wouldn't be a big deal that faceless/nameless characters got wrecked and not brought up. But the fact that we know who they are and know their connection with main cast of Tri, creates a giant plot hole that has yet to be satisfied.

Well at the end of 02 the 02 kids get stuck in an imagination based world right next to the digital world and they all start seeing illusions based on their desires. Takeru is living with his whole undivorced family, Ken gets to watch the Digimon Kaiser get killed by his victims, etc. But Daisuke didn't have one since he doesn't have any desires (he ends up owning a ramen cart for a living ffs) he doesn't get stuck in an illusion and wakes everyone else up from them. They then proceed to summon all of their evolutions simultaneously, including fusions and mode changes, beating the final boss, breaking a hole into the next dimension (digital world), escaping, and getting a happy ending. Then we see 25 years later they're all happy and everyone has a Digimon and kids and the world is great and they all have amazing careers (Daisuke is a freaking multimillionaire from franchising his ramen cart around the world).
This could very well be an extension of that illusion, as experienced by Daisuke.
Or that's just another "ash is dead" theory that will grow like cancer and derail all discussion related to the subject until all the movies are out.

It is beyond abysmal writing for these 02 characters to have never been mentioned a single time by the main cast when they are extremely accessible.
Hikari and Daisuke are literally next door neighbors. They live with only one apartment separating them. Daisuke, Inoue, Hikari, and Takeru all go to the same school, they would see each other DAILY.
Yes, this is a series about the original cast. Yes, they do not want to use the 02 characters. But stating WHY they aren't available is a way to explain the situation to make it make sense.
Look at it this way. Say Takeru was missing for absolutely no reason. And for 2 movies not a single person said "Where is Takeru, he's part of our team?"
Daisuke, Inoue, Iori, and Ken are a part of the Japan Chosen, not mentioning them at least once during a new crisis is absolutely horrendous writing.
Nobody is asking for them to become major characters. People are asking for the current characters to not pretend like they never existed.
